And they completely ignore the PC which has better versions of all these games.

What a confusing article. It feels like the author took pieces from all sorts of online articles over the past 6-months and pasted this thing together. Do people in the SL valley really care about hardware sales in Japan? The Asian market is so different and unique it is completely irrelevant to the US/European trends.

Stormwa - PC software sales are having another double digit decline this year while console software is up double digits. PC is overrun by piracy and unprofitable opportunities for game makers.

Sincerely,

an industry observer

It seems to me that the new phones and iPods will play a role in the future. Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch (coupled with the Apps Store) will provide lots of game playing opportunities for hand held gaming devices.

PC sales may be declining in some areas, but there is the World of Warcraft phenom that no one has mentioned. To me, it seems the only thing comparable on the consoles might be XBOX Live.

You probably know several closet WOW gamers.

It's like someone just dumped a pile of press releases, flak email and publicity fluff onto this guy's desk and said "sort it out."

Aren't in-depth analysis pieces like this supposed to have sources, attribution, etc.? It's a bunch of commentary, or maybe that's what it was supposed to be, an opinion piece? Is Mr. Curtis turning this essay in for credit somewhere?

Sorry to be harsh, but how about a little meat here.

Which will I chose? A news outlet that has a grasp on the industry, not just a full e-mail inbox or Rolodex of pub numbers.

Although my first 360 console had to be sent back because of system crashes I still think 360 is the best way to go. Being able to use all my old xbox games on the 360 system has been a nice bonus. Live is another aspect that has become an important part of my gaming experience. Not to mention the media hard drive that is available. Glad I'm a 360 owner.

In "Sonic Unleashed," the little blue hedgehog has both a day and a night persona that play completely differently. It falls in both 2-D and 3-D play category, with spiffy new environments. (BioWare)
