Gas $1.91 a gallon 2700 W 7800 S This is no joke. There are two gas stations on this corner and we have been having the cheapest gas in the state for two months now! It's been great!

I thought it was wonderful to see the gas prices here in WVC below the $2.00 mark! I'm still very careful with my gas usage and I save where I can. Cause like it said in the article, other essential items are still quite high in price. But, I'm very glad to see something come down in price.

$246 a Gallon at Costco in Downtown Honolulu. Which is about 50 to 70 percent Cheaper then anywhere else on the Island.

We will not really feel relief until the Price of Diesel drops down to what would be considered reasonable.

Where we are getting gauged is in our light bills. Mine has Tripled in Seven Years. From $250 to Over $600 per month. I thought I was the only on (not really) until a local News Station did a Story on it.

That is without A/C.

The connection is that Light Companies use fuel. As fuel comes down so should my price. On the Up side I do not need Heating Oil, as I have no furnace, or fire place. I do have a Blanket and just in case a Space Heater ,but I rarely use the Blanket and have not used the Space Heater. My waterbed can be heated but my Fish Tanks are not. Although I could. It would call for putting all the Fish in 1 tank. Some of the Fish would not like that.

Gas prices here in Missouri are $1.88 in most places and in the big cities $1.64. Gas most be better in Utah to be that expensive.
gas can | 6:36 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
drop to .50 I still wont drive a car.
Sammy | 6:38 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Gas is going back to $1.00 a gallon. The party is over for the gas companies.
uh oh | 7:16 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
For a while we were reducing the amount of miles driven, therefore driving down prices, and also reducing carbon emissions, and generally being "greener". Now that gas prices are coming down, will Americans simply return to their previous driving habits?
sad | 7:17 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Gas is still $2.56 in southern utah. Why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm afraid this is one of those "enjoy it while you can" moments. Certainly as long as the economic indicators are pointed down, oil and gas will be relatively cheap (although I still find it hard to stomach calling $1.99 gas "cheap"). However, once the world economy starts to recover (which obviously could take a while), it will be back to sky is the limit prices again.

The opec nations who only just a few years ago called $25 dollars a barrel a fair price, became accustomed to $120 per barrel oil extremely fast. They are very anxious to see prices hit those levels again.

wow this is great ppl can actually get stuff done. but i was wonding if ths will help our economy?? with gas being so low will ppl be more aped to go out and buy more cars?? or is it not going to help at all with all the problems that our nation has??
No way | 8:20 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Sammy, you couldn't be more wrong. We may see $1 gas if we have a full-on depression, but believe me when I say this break we're enjoying at the moment absolutely will not last. It's only happening because there's a worldwide recession eroding oil demand. Once the recession is over - in a year or 18 months - oil & gas prices will surge back in an unprecedented way. I know something about the oil business, and I bet we'll have $5 gas in the summer of 2010.

The scary thing is how short peoples' memories are. Truck & SUV sales are rebounding right now because people can afford to drive them at the moment. But this moment won't last - don't fool yourself into buying a poor mileage vehicle because in two years, chances are you're going to wish you hadn't.
Don't come to | 8:22 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
St. George if your looking for low gas prices. Our town has been famous for many years in being 30-40 cents a gallon higher than anyhwere you can think of. While the nation will get to fill up for 1.99 or less, St. Gouge will still be much higher than the rest of the nation. Why is this? Can the price fixing group in St. George explain this to us?
RockOn Bush's fault | 8:24 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
No doubt Bush haters will blame the lower prices on Bush... As I recall they blamed him for the rise.
Anonymous | 8:28 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Gas companies still make a nice profit no matter what we are paying.
Anonymous | 8:36 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Never above $2 again. If it goes up protest. We have been ripped off this summer.
nairb | 8:44 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
This will just make everybody complacent again thinking that all is well -- meaning that there will not be a sense of urgency for developing alternative fuels.
I don't think so. | 9:06 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Gas prices will go back up. I will bet on it. They might keep dropping for a few months, but I will bet by the end of Obama's Presidency we will see $5 gallon gas or higher.
Oil exec | 9:58 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Interesting that during an administration in bed with oil companies, the price of gas skyrockets. As he's going out and the president-elect, who is pro-alternative fuel sources, is about to take over the price comes falling back down. That's obviously a little too simplistic, but it is interesting.

@Oil exec

If by "interesting" you mean, "not related at all," then you are right. Come on. Supply and demand. Who is president or president-elect just doesn't matter at all, and it is disingenuous of you to imply otherwise.
Normal cycle | 10:25 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Gas always drops as we approach winter and rises in the spring. Don't expect these prices to last.

Spoken like a true Obamaton. Of course there was no consideration given to the fact that the whole country is calling for more renewable energy sources (not just Democrats) and that the cry has gone out to drill for more oil (increase the supply) and that demand has dropped and so on...
Re Oil Exec | 10:49 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
That's an interesting observation but completely meaningless. Gas prices were so high because oil prices were so high. Why were oil prices high? Mainly because of speculation on the prices as well as a weak dollar. Now that the stock market is going through tough times (and the dollar is gaining against most other currencies), people are not speculating on oil very much. The global declines in demand also drove down the prices. The rise and fall of oil and gas prices is completely independent of who is or will be president. Pres. Bush, by the way, is also very pro-alternative fuel sources; he just happens to also support the oil industry.
Jared | 10:55 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
If gas prices stabilize around $2 a gallon, then they will be at the inflation-adjusted level they have averaged over the past 50 years (with some spikes and dips here and there). Of course, I'd like to see $1 / gallon gas, unless it delays our adoption of alternative fuel cars. I liked higher gas prices for the fact that people consumed less, they drove less, they thought about buying more efficient vehicles, manufacturers designed more efficient vehicles, and companies researched alternative energy sources.

The best solution is to make all cars electric or hydrogen fuel cell powered and build lots of nuclear plants to provide cheap and safe electricity (then, over time add more wind, solar, and geothermal power plants).
well GALS & GUYS | 11:06 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
SAVE up because the next year is going to look like $4.00 a gallon if we are lucky.
Re: Oil exec | 11:23 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
As interesting as pure coincidence can be. Oil was already trading at $60 before Obama was elected so don't go giving him the credit.
Earl | 11:24 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
The Federal Reserve and the Treasury (along with Congress) are implementing Keynesian policies of inflating the economy as fast as possible. The big thing Keynesians fear is deflation, which just happens to include gasoline prices. So if they're successful, all prices will be going up again, including gasoline prices. You can't pick and choose which prices go up and go down. They all go up together or they come down together.
Huh? | 11:31 a.m. Nov. 13, 2008
His mother lives in West Valley and he lives in Murray and he couldn't afford to go see her more than once a month?
veedub | 12:08 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
Oil Exec: If you're going to give Obama credit for lowering oil prices, you have to give him blame for the stock market continuing to drop and the recession deepening, since that what most economists are saying what has led to the drop in oil prices.

Can't credit him for one without blaming him for the others.
Demand | 1:38 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
If any of you think oil price really has to do with supply and demand you've fallen for a big prank. The only demand they worry about is how much they can demand from you and get it! The current economic problems ought to tell you that the philosophies around pricing and economy are simply distractions to keep you watching one hand while the other grabs your wallet.

Why is the gas cheaper in WVC comparable to Utah Valley?
the truth | 3:20 p.m. Nov. 13, 2008
People are looking at the pump prices when should looking at the suppliers.

The middle east did not want a republican as president.

So they raise the prices before the primary election to hurt the US economy.

Then begin lowering when it looks like a democrat will win. And now afterwards.

The scary thing is the Middle east having so much influence in our country. And the liberal allowing it.

All the more reason for energy independence.

"No doubt Bush haters will blame the lower prices on Bush... As I recall they blamed him for the rise." The problem was speculation and the dollar's value just like liberals told you. Not one new well has been drilled.

Bush's approval rating in the lowest in history at 22%. He won by 51%. You think you call call 29% of those who voted for Bush "Bush haters?"

Gas has been below $2 gallon in Oklahoma for several months, and is now at $1.79. What happened in Utah to keep prices so high for so long?
