I find it interesting that the press still takes comments from Pat Jones. She is the one who took two tickets to a Billy Joel concert and then when questioned said she had the check for those tickets some where on her Desk. Sing me a song, Oh ethics woman sing me a song tonight. When were all in the mood for some duplicitous talk she's the one to quote alright.

Clark is totally unfamiliar with conflict of Interest, both in legislative ethics reform and also electing Becky Lockhart Asst. Majority Whip.

Clearly ethics reform is missing from Clark's agenda. He is making band aid changes in an attempt to appease the public, not really solve any problems.

It doesn't matter what new rules the legislature sets up if they don't have a strong enforcement, penalty plan in place. What happens if a legislator violates one of Clark's NEW proposed rules?

Walker's ethic hearing is a prime example of the reason the legislature needs an independent ethics reform panel/committee. Possible criminal activity occurred and all Walker had to do was resign and everything went away!

Why not eliminate personal use of campaign funds?

The majority of Utah voters who are not registered Democrats or Republicans should demand a gerrymander-proof electoral system such as proportional representation.

Redistricting is a function given to the Legislative branch by the State Constitution. Second, his proposals do eliminate personal use of campaign funds. (This was only a partial list.) Third, his ethics investigation panel will include two republican legislators, two democratic legislators and three judges. Lastly, Pat Jones has got to be kidding. Republican Jeff Alexander was attempting to make ethics reforms long before Democrats decided to make this "their" issue. Those reforms were constantly blocked by the Senate. (By both Republicans and Democrats.)

Dave Clark, Speaker of the House will be up for re-election in 2 years. Is there anybody that wants to run against him?

I knew there would be problems when I read that the losing speaker, Curtis selected Dave Clark PRIOR to the election to run for the next Speaker.

It remains to be seen whther Dave Clark is his own man or a Curtis clone. For the sake of Utah, let's pray he isn't another Greg Curtis.

But watch Becky Lockhart. She and her husband, Stan Lockhart, Utah Republican Chair, do not have a sterling history on ethics.
