Way to lead out, SUU. With all the wind that gusts through Iron County, I would imagine that would be a pretty good source for alternative energy as well. Either way, I'm glad to see my alma mater setting an example for other schools in the State. Go Birds!
It took a grant | 5:39 p.m. Nov. 4, 2008
Sorry, but SUU accepting a grant is hardly leading out with "innovation" in the use of renewable energy. Very few normal folks - and businesses - can afford those little 6kW photovoltaic systems. It was nice of Rocky Mountain Power to "help cover costs for the project", but we should all be so lucky. I'd like to be in line with the Gov's edict, as well; all I need is a grant for a "springboard."
People can preach about it all day long, but until solar - and other alternative - energy costs are within a reasonable fraction of what people can afford, renewable energy will remain easy to say but almost impossible to do. Sure, this will eventually save the state some money, but the math doesn't work without the grant.
