I agree that we need to keep a core group together for years to come. And I feel like our core group is as good as any other teams. This year I feel like whenever we take the pitch we have a good chance of winning. I can't say I've ever felt like that before in the previous 3 years. I think if we make the playoffs we have as good a chance as anyone else to win the whole thing. BUT making the playoffs is no guarantee! BEAT DALLAS!

Essentially the playoffs have started for RSL. They have a great situation on Saturday with the opening of the stadium behind them, they will still have a large crowd cheering them on. I don't think it's too much to expect our team to be on the attack and create many chances.

Williams not in core a relief | 2:07 p.m. Oct. 15, 2008
Glad to see Williams not mentioned as a core. Hope he gets traded away so we can spend some his large salary on a player with a future (or even a present and presence).
We have got to put our money into Olave. He is better than Pope ever was in a RSL jersey. The office needs to figure that one out fast.

Get Olave signed as everyone else said. The man can play at the top level. He makes mistakes, but who doesn't? Can't wait for the game this weekend.

Sad to see Williams not mention, As a season ticket holder I am hoping to see Williams back wearing RSL Jersey next season, I truly believe he was one of the Core as well as those mentioned. That is as long as he continues to stay fit and work hard as he has done this year. I hope he gets a pay raise because he deserve it!

I agree Williams has had his best season in an RSL kit this year. Even better than when he was our MVP of the year a couple of years ago. He's fit, he's hungry, he works hard on defense, and like Morales and Beckerman, he is a huge reason why we've become a creative, possession-oriented attacking team this year. I don't think there is a single better player on turf in this league than Andy Williams. When he's in form, he makes us much better. I honestly believe we would have played significantly better last week against New York had he been on the pitch.
Plus his salary has already been downsized once when they made room for guys like Adu who did next to nothing for the team. If anyone deserves a raise, especially with his wife's health concerns, it's Andy Williams!

Keeping a core group is good, and it's especially important to hang on to good young American players. But I like the Mourinho model at Chelsea--bringing in 3 new players who can compete for starting positions each year.

I think Kreis' model for RSL and his execution of that model has been great. But I think he is still learning how to be an in the match coach, based on some match-time decisions he's made throughout the season (taking out Olave at Dallas is why we lost; leaving in Mathis last match). He sees the forest, not necessarily the trees (yet).
