Steve Young was my all time fav Pro Football player. So glad to see this honor come to him, he so deserves it! He was an AWESOME quaterback!

I was at the game and it was sure neat to see the fans cheer Steve on as soon as he entered the field even though the game was still going on. Just a great guy.

what a great story...especially when you know of all the struggles and chances to quit before he made it. Way to go Steve!!!

The 49'ers have been in the cellar since the departure of Young. He continued the tradition that was well established under the tenure of Debartello. Maybe one day those days will return!

Lets see, how many eweetes have their NFL numbers retired? Rhetorical question Farley, set of five...

Its been rough being a Niners fan since Young went out against Arizona. It may be a while before the glory days return to SF. Thanks Young for all the good years!

Wonder when the 49ers are going to retire Alex Smith's jersey?

Steve Young is a sterling example of what happens when someone stays persistent and overcomes huge expectations as well as monumentous adversity in his career. Those tough times made him the player/person he was/is today. Thanks for so many great memories, Steve.

Young had it all - blazing 4.5 speed and athletism, toughness, very good passer and a great leader on the field. You try to rush him and he dumps the ball off to a running back. You let him stay in the pocket and he floats a beautiful ball to wide out down field. You cover tight on the wideouts and he zips the ball with some "mustard on it" on a line. You let him out of the pocket and he out runs the corner back for a first down or he connects on the run to wide out down field. The guy was nightmare for defenses!!
