Nine tenths of today's "homeless" population still belongs in mental hospitals. It is a shame that they are now abandoned to themselves, because of the liberal mentality that sued for their release. When they were hospitalized they were well fed and well cared for, despite the mythology that has developed about past mental health treatment and practices.

It's easy to over-simplify the problem of the mentally ill, homeless population. They are definitely not doing well on the streets, but forced admission into treatment facilities is difficult and often not an appealing option to consider either. The potential for abuse by interested parties is a reality that seriously complicates things.

I don't know what the best solution is, but these people definitely need more help and less judgment.
