there has got to be more than one angle on this game, other than "road woes". We've got it, we've heard it, enough already.

Dishnetwork is finally starting to listen to customers who want the Mountain West Sports Network. Here are the general responses to my phone and email requests.

2 years ago: "What? Never heard of that sir."
2 weeks ago: "We love to provide that sir, if only we had more information." (This response was followed with an email directing them to Craig Thompson for step by step instructions."
This Morning when upgrading my service to get FSN I requested again MWSN: "Sir I'll submit a programing request for you. Now you know if we did provide it, you would have to subscribe to a higher package like 100 plus." I assured them I would be willing.

I know this is worn out, but would any of you Cougar/MWC fans make some phone calls? I think it's getting close. Of course it would help too if the broadcast picture didn't look like something from the 60's. But we gotta start somewhere.

AT OREGON.
The ducks are a legitimate PAC-10 title contender. That's right, they could win it all beating out USC, California and the Arizona schools. And they win on their home turf which is why.
BYU is trying to belittle Washington. Look at the news stories, fan blogs, coaches' and players' comments. The overconfidence can easily lead to a loss, especially for a team that has no history supporting a non-conference road win.
The problem with hyping the cougars up so much and belittling the Huskies, is that you're more prone to losing, and even if the you win, but it's not a blow out, you lose respect. On the other hand, if you stay humble and point out the opponent's strengths instead of their weaknesses and lead people to believe it's going to be a tough game and then you blow them out, you gain respect, and even if it's close, you still gain respect. Everyone now expects a blowout, so the cougars better win big or they have hurt themselves by being so boastful.
Go cougars and please stay humble and don't let the MWC down again by losing another non-conference road game.

I dont like Washington, or the Pac-10, but I avoid the kitties like the plague and hope they get absolutely crushed today. Go Utes!! Washington's biggest fan today will be a Ute fan from Salt Lake City.

Okay, Cougs! Today is the first step toward proving yourselves. On paper, you have all the stats and tools to beat the Huskies senseless. Only you can beat yourself by turning the ball over, giving up big plays or playing over-confidently. Last week's inexperience showed in the new or back=up players so let's hope lessons were learned. Loosen up, have fun and make us all proud!

Although, the way things looked from the first weekend, BYU won't have much a challenge in that game either as they will probably play the very weak, unranked ACC champion. (just like the '04 Utah team).
BlueCoug | 8:29 a.m. Sept. 6, 2008
Just win. No excuses. If Utah can do it in the Big House, BYU should certainly be able to do it in Husky Stadium. Win or live with the scorn of the Ute fans until November.

I have got my ticket and im on my way to the game. Go Cougars!

This one will silence the doubters and put fear into the hearts of Ute fans everywhere!

BYU 35 Washington 17

Washington has the speed that BYU lacks. Also, UCLA is better than you Kwegs think. Washington will be a test today, but UCLA will take it to the next level. No more division II.

everyone here in the pacific NW is pretty much predicting a byu blowout. There is no way the Dawgs can compete with the cougs with the current garbage coaching regime calling the same garbage plays, delayed handoffs up the midle, hopelessly overthrown balls to underwhelming athletes at flanker. I hope the Dub wins but I just can't see it; you guys are so well coached and have some really great players, and we have Montlake Jake and a few marginally talented freshmen. If you do end up beating UW i hope the BYU squad goes undefeated and wins a Nat Champ. I like the way your team goes about its business, has cool uniforms, great players, believes in God, good luck, should be a great game for about a quarter or two and then blowout city...

You would have seen that if viewmont doesn't have any turnovers in the second half bountiful lose's this game so bountiful didn't win it viewmont lost it

Was Ty coaching ND when we beat them last?

Can't wait to see who wins this one. The deplorable Huskies or the overrated BYU Bougars.
... | 2:34 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
Go Huskies! BYU's d has more holes than a block of swiss cheese!
AL | 2:41 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
To Husky Pride: Well the Utes have no other team, that is ranked, this year to ensure a BCS berth unless BYU who is ranked now comes into RES ranked and you are able to beat them. So routing against BYU is routing against your own team. I doubt Utah will be able to pull off a BCS invite without beating a ranked team. SO THERE, route against BYU I think that shows a lot of class.

BYU will get a BCS invite if they keep winning. Utah has lowly Weber St and Utah St that will keep you ranked, if you win, but you must also beat a ranked BYU team in November. Routing against BYU defeats your own purpose, but that's how stupid some Ute fan are.............
RE: AL | 3:15 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
You go on and on about "routing" against BYU. What does that even mean? Learn how to spell. Especially before you call others "stupid".
RE: AL | 3:36 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
Your argument makes NO sense what so ever...
AL | 3:51 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
Because typical Ute fans are to stupid to figure it out and that must be the two who responded to me. You think you can walk all over unranked teams and automatically get a BCS invite. You're wrong and you know it. The Mountain West has had trouble with respect in this area before and you know that also. I get tired of Utah fan routing for Utah and anyone who plays BYU, So you will get an ear full and don't be so stupid. You will likely not play any other team that is ranked this year except BYU if they keep winning, so routing against them serves no purpose.
Re: AL | 4:00 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
Utah has busted the BCS. BYU never has. Utah has the best record against BCS teams. BYU does not. Utah knows more about busting the BCS. Looks like you did not learn how to spell since your the last non-sense post.
MVP for BYU-the officials | 4:19 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
I never want to hear another BYU fan complain about the officiating again. They gave BYU this game
re AL | 4:24 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
I love Utah "routing" opponents, which is what will happen in November. I remember that Utah busted the BCS by ROUTING opponents, which isn't what BYU is doing to Washington. Oh and guess what, BYU will have to beat a RANKED Ute team in november.
re MVP | 4:26 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
I didnt get to see it, what went down? I saw the stupid blocked EP on the net. Please elaborate. Looks like byu needs to clog some holes in that d, luckily they haven't played a team with a strong defense either.
AL | 4:27 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
A previous BCS appearance does not guarantee a future one. You YEWTS don't understand anything. All you know is hate. Enjoy your life of hate. I'm gone................
Provo Ute | 4:32 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
The overrated Cougs got this game handed to them by a bad call....UCLA will kill you.
Mighty Cougs | 4:36 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
Well, I guess we can say two things:

1. The "road woes" are over.
2. Hopefully, those BYU fans that forecast a blow-out should be praying in gratitude for the 15 yard call after Washington's last touchdown.
3. Let's remember that this team is only 4-11 going back to the start of last season and the program is in shambles. Hopefully, no one will be delusional enough to rationalize this win into talk about how BYU could crush USC.
4. Can we just give up the "Quest for Perfection" now? Enough already. I for one will be rooting for Norm, Rick, and the Bruins next week (and every team BYU plays thereafter).
5. BYU is still 1-13 in its last 14 tries against ranked opponents.
6. Remember that this team was crushed last week by Oregon. Does anyone really think that this win demostrates that BYU is ready to play with the top half of the Pac-10?

Enuf Said.
re AL | 4:51 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
life of hate? I hate the cougs on saturdays, on whatever day their bowl game loss comes on. Oh, and whatever day their first round NCAA tourney loss comes on. All I'm saying is that BYU has lived on hype since 2000.
NevadaCoug | 5:39 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
"4. Can we just give up the "Quest for Perfection" now? Enough already. I for one will be rooting for Norm, Rick, and the Bruins next week (and every team BYU plays thereafter)."

No, we can't give up the "Quest for Perfection." Why? Because it isn't about having an undefeated record at the end of the season. That's a very small part of it. It has to do with each individual player, not necessarily the Cougar's record at the end of the season.

BYU could go continue to fumble balls into the end zone, still win every game, and fail the "Quest for Perfection." It's about improving yourself every day, every game. The wins will come if you do that.
JR Coug | 6:22 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
That missed holding call in that last drive was unbelievable. It was right in front of the ref. Please UW fans! I don't want to hear about the celebration call. That was a poorly executed extra point. It would've been blocked anyway. It had no trajectory on it. BYU dominated this game. The better team won!
Sierra Blue | 6:31 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
Probably too late for many readers to see this, but BYU had two turnovers that clearly cost BYU 14 points. When you play a quality team, you can't afford turnovers. Reverse those turnovers, the score is 41 to something (21 or 28 perhaps). BYU dominated the stats, dominated nearly everything except the score. If BYU is going to seriously run the table, they have got to stop giving up the football.

Reverse those two turnovers, the bonehead call on Locker at the end of the game would have been irrelevant.
