Mitt Romney is a good man and he deserves better than what he got: I think he would make a great president someday and I also think that he should run for president in the future.

Mitt Romney deserved better than what he got from the American people. He is a good man and a outstanding speaker. I hope that he considers running for president in the future. He would make a great president someday!

It seems like people in Utah are personalizing Mitt's loss way too much and are to quick to call others names who do not support him.

Did I read that right? The reddest state in America wasn't invited to have their delegation at the actual convention?

Mitt Romney is not gone and certainly not forgotten. All the wishing, wanting, ranting, raving, etc, ad in finitum cannot or will not change facts that this great nation is in the Hands of a power completely not understood by "the powers that be" in US politics. We will see Mitt again, better known, much better understood - and STILL true and faithful to matters much more precious and sacred than the natural man can understand. Those who think we are in the worst there can or will be will think again and then a leader among leaders will be there to stand tall for what is right. Prayers pleading for patience - "but give it to me right now" - never have worked and never will.

I think Mitt is well aware of the clout he has around the country and will be back in 2012. I can't see either Obama or McCain being so great as President that they would be reelected. America is heading down the tubes and will be ready for a man of upstanding moral character and integrity.

I am writing in Romney this time around and will be voting him President in 2012. Polls have showed that the Palin pick to be the weakest since Dan Quayle, but then again did we expect anything less from McCain the egomaniac?

Mitt Romney is a true gentleman. I hope to see more of him in the future and have another opportunity to cast my vote, next to his name again.

I hope Mitt runs again in 2012. Then I will feel like I'm voting for a truly great person and a great president, not just the lesser of evils.

I think McCain's choice of Palin clearly shows extremely poor judgment. He's carried this "maverick" label too far, he's arrogant and is starting to believe his own press. Some blogs indicate that this was McCain's "Hail Mary Pass," and that it didn't mattter what choice he made, he's still going to lose. But he definitely had better options that would help him more in key states, one of those was Romney. I'm not voting Democrat but McCain doesn't appeal to me at all.
Yeah Brad Tew | 2:00 p.m. Sept. 1, 2008
My sentiments exactly. I hope we have the opportunity. I also like the write in idea as I am feeling like I am voting for the lesser of evils.

Utah is too invested in Romney and his campaign. Others around the country saw him as someone who would change his views on abortion and gay marriage depending on the times and the particular setting, a man who has six males in the immediate family none of whom were committed to the military enough to serve their country in that venue, a man who has great personal fortune who thought he could buy his way to the White House, and someone whose religion they weren't comfortable with which seemed to be fired by recent activities of Fundamentalist Mormons which many were unable to see as a completely different group. I don't think Romney will be any better off in another campaign, the issues will be the same. He can benefit the country with his expertise on economics without being president or vice president. Hopefully if McCain is elected Romney will be chosen for a cabinet position.
four or eight years from now is a long time and there are young fresh candidates on the horizon like governor Bobby Jindal of Louisana. Mitt Romney will not be in the public eye.

Romney is a good man and in my opinion is qualified. He only has one problem.

Yeah Brad Tew,
"My sentiments exactly. I hope we have the opportunity. I also like the write in idea as I am feeling like I am voting for the lesser of evils."
Have fun writing in Mitt Romney since it will help other voters since NONE of his votes will be counted anyways. You should convince him to file as a write-in candidate so you can vote for someone whose an official write in candidate. Otherwise your damn vote won't even be counted.
As for me I hope he doesn't file as a write in candidate and I also hope that you will vote for him so OUR votes for other candidates will have even greater weight. I might even start a write in Mitt Romney website for the idiots in order to get you to divide your vote between McCain and Romney knowing full well that none of Romney votes will be counted.
Do you want to help me start the website since one vote for Romney equals a NON-EXISTENT vote for the voter.

Where did this new rule come from that he had to file as write-in candidate before I had the right to write him in? That's a new one on me. I've done write ins before. I wrote in Regan when he lost the first time in the primary. Write in votes use to count. Who's the boss anyway we the people or law changers? Show your constitutional law.

I believe Mitt is a good man and has much to offer this country....in more ways than he already has! I have not understood his "twisting" or support of abortion rights or acceptance of gay rights while running for Mass. offices, but do believe that while in office he did support and "hold off" further erosion of those values many of us hold dear. Those previous stances were difficult to explain and caused reason for additional lack of support among other conservatives, especially evangelicals!
Mitt has been a great example of NOT being a sore loser or complainer, but has tried to campaign for the BEST of the 2 viable candidates for president. I know there is NO perfect president...even Mitt, probably....BUT we have to choose the best of those we have AT THIS POINT. It IS frustrating, but let's not cut off our nose to spite our face in this upcoming election! I respect Mitt's decision to not run again....it MUST be GRUELING, especially when religion is so distorted by some. I hope he will serve our country in some way....rethink the cabinet post if offered! McCain NEEDS him...and so do we!

It is sad that the GOP is so prejudice against Mormons. The Country should be ashamed at how Romney was treated. Mormons need to send a strong message to the Republican Party that we are not going to stand for this. Mormons should vote for Obama or an independent candidate. The Republican Party needs the message sent that they can't take the Mormon vote for granted. I wish Obama and Harry Reid would come here and speak directly to the Mormon people. Obama should let them know he would appreciate their vote. This would send an unmistakable message to the GOP. If they want to cater to the Bible Thumping Evangelical Bigots go a head. This will cause them to lose the Mormon vote out here in the West. We could also send a strong message by voting out our Republican Leadership here in Utah. Lets send as many Republicans packing as we can. This might bring about some needed change here locally. Their needs to be a political balance. Vote independent or Democratic this fall. Send a strong message to the local and national GOP!!

The world (and in my opinion the U.S.A. in the first place)needed Mitt Romney as your Vp. Too bad. What a great man. I salute and thank you all.

Fist of all to CC, Governors don't pass laws the people do. The Gay Rights reference was voting in by the people of Mass. it does not mean that Mitt Romney was in agreement with it.
Also, Republican Bigots reference to Harry Reid confuses me because good ole Harry is a Latter Day Saint as well as Mitt Romney. Yes, it is true he is Nancy Pelosi's puppet, which totally frustrates me, but in the end he is a convert to the LDS church.
Name calling only creates hateful feelings, everyone is entitled to their opinion but they can at least be tactful and decent and definitely mature about it. I have no doubt Mitt would of been the best pick.

Dear Joy,
I believe Republican Bigots reference to Reid was because everyone knows Reid is Mormon, and therefore a good/natural choice to visit with Obama.
Republican Bigots,
I couldn't agree with your post more. The anti-mormon sentiment in the R. primary was astonishing -- total wake up call. I for one won't support a candidate who pejoratively speaks of my faith -- whether directly or indirectly -- to his political gain. You are right, a strong message should be sent.
Regardless of whether Utah LDS readers agree with my views, I am proud to be one of you. You are my people. Let's be patient with each other, regardless of political differences.

McCain, however, thinks otherwise, as do most who voted in the primaries. For this, Utah will punish them by voting straight R.
