According to Tom Holmoe, the south screen will be replaced in two years giving it much better graphics too.
huh? | 7:34 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
what's with the crimson red trim on the new score board?
Observer | 7:39 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
BYU fans are a stiff necked people. A new scoreboard isn't going to change anything.

There will always be stiff necks at BYU. A zebra can't change it's stripes.
Stiff Necks | 8:43 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Great no more stiff necks. Now what about the swelled heads?
stiff neck | 8:59 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Yep, I'm a stiff neck. I am soooooo arrogant. I am very self righteous. I think I am better than you because I am a BYU football fan. Wo is me. I shouldn't be a BYU football fan. Afterall we play a weak schedule and a weak conference. Why oh why should I even cheer for BYU. The talk shows and media are correct. I am the worst fan ever. I should cheer for the yewts. They are the better team with the better schedule. There shouldn't even be articles about BYU because it only makes us BYU fans worse as we gloat in our glory, history and ourselves--we are so much better than all of you out there. I am a stick neck and you have certainly convinced me to change my ways.
Whoa Nellie | 9:08 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
No matter how good the equipment and technical aspects of the scoreboards there is still that human factor that will nullify any investment made in video screens. As long as amateurs (students) are manning the video cameras the replays will still be pathetic. Even coverage on The Mtn. is better than anything that has ever been shown on the LES NuSkin video screen.

Nevertheless, I would rather be a stiffneck than a redneck at RES.
Nice Board | 9:12 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
It's always nice to see there are so many "clever" anti-BYU posters out there. Is that really the best you can come up with?
I like mine | 9:18 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I like my stiff neck and swollen head. I am glad the previous posters are perfected.

Go Cougs.
APX? | 9:35 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Who the heck is APX? Is that Automated Power Exchange, which has no business whatsoever in Utah? The company operates in power markets like California and Texas.
All it takes is a scoreboard | 9:39 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
All it takes is a new scoreboard to fix the stiff-necked people? Does it also fix those with a hard-heart as well?
Greatwall | 9:44 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
APX is an alarm system company based out of Orem. They are one of the fastest growing alarm companies in the nation.
zach | 10:27 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
But it's still an alarm system company so you can bank on it being out of business in the next couple of years.
Ray | 10:28 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Now if they can just get the audio to match the video that would be great. Every time they run some video piece the audio is off with the video which is very annoying. If I was a sponser I would really be ticked.
Re: Ray | 10:48 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
You need to take a class in the physics of sound. The audio can't be matched up with the video unless they place speakers right next to you.
Anonymous | 11:10 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
The sad thing about this video screen and all others is that the advertisements take up more space than the screen. I know they paid for it, but the commercialism is bothersome. I don't want to be reminded of Omniture or lawyers or that kind of stuff when I'm watching a game. Can't someone anonymously donate money and not ask for their good deed to be broadcast to everyone? If only I had 6.5 million laying around...
re: Nice Board | 11:54 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I suppose some dumb zoob repeating "Harline is still open" for the millionth time is better?
Stiff necks | 12:00 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
C'mon you got to admit that was funny.

And it was nice to see 'stiff neck' acknowledge what has been known for years.

Dude, what we don't all like to admit is how similar our schools are and our fans are. It's fun to have a rivalry. I like to dismiss any Y accomplishments and celebrate their failures. It's all in good fun.

If you are bored waiting for the season to start, go to youtube and check out, 'how to kill a cougar'.

Oh and neither U or the Y is going undefeated this year, sorry guys.
Rah! Rah! Rah! | 12:19 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Yeah! A "NuSkin Scoreboard" to report the "Yost Extra Points", and the soon to be "Big Mac Touchdowns", "Smith’s Safeties", "Pamper’s Punts" and "Macey’s Kick-offs". Don’t you love Sponsor Events, er I mean, Football games!!

Let's give the Cougars a good old "Preparation H cheer"!!
Hmm... | 12:33 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
This looks like a nice addition to the stadium, but I wonder how "up-to-date" it really is if it is controlled by a computer that runs on Windows XP. XP is an obsolete operating system (albeit far better than DOS which the old scoreboard ran on!) so I hope there will be a path to upgrade to a more current version of Windows (Vista? - Heaven help us!) or possibly, Mac OS X.
This is being nitpicky, however - thanks to all those who made this possible and I'm sure the fans attending the games will enjoy the improvements. Have a great season, Cougars!

Great posts from TUN fans. Glad you are reading about BYU. There's not much going on The Hill and you need to vent your frustrations. It's cheaper than your psychiatrist.
Ernest T. Bass | 1:12 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I get a stiff neck trying to read all the comments posted here, because some of them are waaaay up high and I have to squint to see them too. I think byu should also fix this. Maybe they shouldn’t allow so many comments. I’m going back over to the Ute articles where there are less comments and it’s easier. Also my lips get real tired from so much reading.
Utes | 1:53 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
All the more screens to beat you on.

I think it is so funny how scared BYU and their fans are. The Utes will win the Mnt West Conference while BYU sits back and wonders what happen to "Perfection".
Don't they know that no one is perfect? Way to set yourself up for failure.
Youknow whatImtalkingabout | 2:14 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I hear the new scoreboard has the ability to replay questionable calls to always look like the cougars were wronged. That way the old dudes will stand up out of thier blue padded seat covers to throw even more licorice and say stuff like "thats just awful!"
Kevin Olson | 2:22 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Utes:

BYU has Conference trophies on their Sports shelves. The Utes have a clock on the wall counting down to when they play Us.

Do you really think we are scared that Utah is going to win the conference?
Northern Iowa fan | 3:01 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
We're going to beat you so bad on Saturday that it will make everyone forget about what App. State did to Michigan last year!

Prepare to lose your goalposts . . .
re: stiff neck | 3:10 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Get over yourself. I agree, the red trim looks great! Well done, BYU!! :)
Anonymous | 3:56 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
So how much did the scoreboard cost? Heaven forbid they spend the money on something worthwhile... like education.
Will | 4:12 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
More than 1 replay? ... in years past the videoboard operator would only run 1 replay per play... which was horrible. Hopefully this new board will be better utilized. I want more than 1 replay on great plays (touchdowns, interceptions, etc.)
ugh | 4:15 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
red? goo! the only place the color red belongs is in your veins and arteries.
Gotta luv it... | 4:17 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Come on BYU fans, some of these posts from the Utes are really funny. If we want to compete with Utah fans, let's put some humor up here. We have a personality, don't we?...well, don't we??

Go Cougs!
I Bleed Blue | 4:26 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I'm seriously shaking right because I can't wait for tmw's game. It's hard to even type. I dont think that I'll sleep tonight. Actually I'm headed over to the stadium right now and camping on the lawn.
Anonymous | 4:50 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
NI fan thanks for the update, its in the locker room
Bostonx26 | 4:51 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Is that Northern Iowa fan serious? wow....Now we know why people all over joke re: people from Iowa.....or perhaps This NIU fan is just joking? rather odd at a minimum... GO COUGARS!!!!!!!!!
I Bleed Blue | 6:36 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I wasn't kidding about camping out on the lawn. I'm here right now using a random wi-fi signal. If you really bleeded blue, you'd be here making these same sacrafices.
re: I Bleed Blue | 6:51 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Are you serious? It's just a game, brother. Take a valium and get some rest.
Re: You know what... | 8:49 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
BYU fans lift out our padded chairs to cheer, u fans stagger. Surprising utes see any of the game. Maybe that will be your only comfort tomorrow. GO MICHIGAN!
Optimidy | 9:17 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I believe that the best thing that we can do, as loyal BYU fans and representatives of the University, is to stay cool when outsiders try to derail us with uncomplementary statements. If we try to fight back, we lower our own standards to the level of theirs. Let's keep our standards more educated, better mannored, with more intelligent behavior. Let the other guys show their lack of class. Let's keep our standards above that nonsense.
Silly Ute Posts are hurtful??? | 10:21 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Man, the Ute comments are not even up to the junior high smack (and I thought most Ute fans had at least completed junior high)...

Let's see the biting wit of the Utes...

"what's with the crimson red trim on the new score board?" (anyone even get this?)

"BYU fans are a stiff necked people. A new scoreboard isn't going to change anything." (wow)

"There will always be stiff necks at BYU. A zebra can't change it's stripes." (Brilliant)

"I suppose some dumb zoob repeating "Harline is still open" for the millionth time is better?" (Dumb Zoob is way more cutting than Harline, fourth-and-18--Which for anyone in the stadium those days shut up the Utes... Deafening Silence)

"I think it is so funny how scared BYU and their fans are. The Utes will win the Mnt West Conference while BYU sits back and wonders what happen to "Perfection"". (Utah undefeated MWC???)

"Don't they know that no one is perfect? Way to set yourself up for failure." (I guess you're also predicting BYU will go scoreless against UNLV, lose to AFA, and get stuck tied for third in the MWC --no one is perfect, according to Kyle.

Come on Utes...

Thats-it???
hey yewts | 10:52 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008
Are you that weak? Comenting about a new video scoreboard? Remember Cougar Stadium was built by creating a product that looks great on the field.

If the olympics don't show up in SLC in '02 you're probably still playing in that dump that was the old rice stadium.

Don't hate because you can't raise enough money to build a barn. Maybe you'll get another decent scorboard when the olympics come back again in about a 100 years.

No matter how well you play you'll always be second in this state. And if the Aggies ever get their stuff together you may drop to third.

re:hey yewts

Too bad the same fans that revel in the "Mitt Romney" 45,00 seat stadium didn't have the designer of the Birdnest in China.

If they had the same stadium, all of the Ute fans could have had front row seats..

FYI The video board is a proprietary piece of software, it runs on XP. This version of XP is stripped to run the video board software.

Isn't Nu Skin one of those pyramid scheme companies?
