If you think that Cafe Rio is good, try Costa Vida!!!

Ditto on the Costa Vida!!! Cafe Rio is a nice second (and we don't even have any in Oregon), but Costa Vida (where there is one in Hillsborough) is even a step up from Cafe Rio! Try their Cilantro-Lime Vinagrette. I always have to stop into both places when I am in Utah.

Wow, people actually eat at Costa Vida? No thanks. Cafe Rio is much, much better. I would say Chipotle is second to Cafe Rio and Bajio a distant third.

Cafe Rio is beyond delicious, and the food is addicting. In my opinion, it's far better than Costa Vida, which I've only been to once because I was so not impressed with it. Costa Vida's tortillas are nowhere near as good as Cafe Rio's, and they don't offer the free kids' quesadillas, either! Cafe Rio can't be beat, and that's why you'll find me there at least once (often more) times a week.

I am a big Cafe Rio Fan I would rather eat @ Cafe Rio than I would Costa Vida, Everytime I go to Csota with a friend I always eat before i go then I just sit and visit, while they enjoy their meal. Or I willbuy stuff from next door then take it to Costa & eat it, That Works, Their is just something about Cafe Rio that makes it so good, Good Job Cafe Rio, You are the best

Cafe Rio? Really?

Give me a break, please. I have to agree with my girl Dana here. If you like Cafe Rio, there's this WAY good Mexican restaurant called Del Taco!!! Not only do they have tacos and burritos, they have burgers, too!! It's way good!!
Get real. Look for a real restaurant to write a review about.

I've got to disagree with a couple of things: "And it's a nice specimen of its genre, with an appealing dining space, wide-open and clean cooking spaces and tasty food."
First, I do not understand the appeal of this "genre" - Cafe Rio, Costa Vida, Bajios, et al. I have found few, if any, interesting/delicious meals at any of these.
Second, the food is plentiful, yet mediocre. I have yet to find something that I enjoy. After my first visit I figured my meal may not have been the best choice as it was sadly lacking. But all these people must be on to something, so I gave it another go - disappointed again. Third visit(and following visits) went with friends who love Cafe Rio, tried their recommendations - still disappointed.
Third, the atmosphere is irritating - overcrowded, noisy. Apparently folks are under the impression that this is an outdoor establishment and feel the need to use there outdoor voices.
I find it best to avoid this "genre" of eatery. There is much better fare elsewhere.

I've never been inside a Cafe Rio but we order from them at work every wendsday.
Their food doesn't resemble any mexican or tex-mex food Ive eaten in either Texas or Mexico. But it is good in a slightly better than fast food kind of way. In fact its the only northern "Tex-mex" Ive been able to stomach in Utah besides Blue Iguana and the corner taco stands. The tostada salads so far are my favorite.

It's like taco bell with higher prices, nothing remarkable.

Now that's what I call a review. I had never heard of this place until Miss Kratz pointed it out. My wife and I love anything authentic and I think I found my place. Who knew burritos came in so many flavors? Thanks, Stace. You've allowed Sheena, my wife, and I to really expand our horizons. U rock!

I love cafe Rio, because they make the best Burritos ever! It is so Good, I can understand it why some People don't like it, but I Think it is very scrumptious Food.
