And to think, we get to pay a user fee on top of towing, ticket, taxes, etc, etc.

Maybe someone can recommend another place to park once those parking areas fill up.

I have never before lived in a state where they charge you to hike a trail, swim in a lake, or enjoy a picnic in the canyon. Not to mention charging sales tax on food. My thanks go out to the Bangeters, the Hunstmans, and other rich families in Utah for passing such legislation.

Your "fun" is making travelling up and down the canyon a life and death proposition.
Don't park illegally and you won't get a ticket.

Middle Class, have you lived anywhere else? I've lived or recreated in Missouri, Virginia, West Virginia, and Arkansas and all those states charge admission to some of their state parks and recreation areas.
Why are you simultaneously complaining about a lack of parking facilites and being charged admission? How is it that the parking lots get built? The fees for getting up AF canyon stay in AF canyon, so it's only an 'additional tax' if you use the canyon.
If the parking area is full, go to a different one and WALK.

Middle Class:
I also would like to know where you have lived in the past, that does not charge for admission to state park and recreation areas. Having recently moved back to Utah from the Southeast and Midwest areas, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Indiana, all charge usage fees for state operated facilities.
And that is if you are lucky enough to go to a state or federal operated facility. Go to one of the many private operated areas, and you will pay even higher fees for poorly operated facilities.
No sympathy here for reasonable fees to maintain relatively well maintained sites.

I agree, It seems like the Cali's have changed the West along with the easteners who have little land so they moved and brought their laws with them.
Spend some time on a Indian reservation in AZ but don't eat a snicker bar on the trail with out first puchasing your picnic license.
