While I have been impressed with the Americans returning home (namely Borchers) I have been much more impressed with our players that have come from Latin America.
Norwegian | 9:01 a.m. Aug. 27, 2008
I speak Norwegian (served a mission there) and I have spoken to Nat Borchers.....I assure you he is very fluent.
If you don't believe me, watch his video called doubletalk on aylsoccerdotcom......he goes off in Norwegian during the interview.

..while its cool we have a bunch of Americans with over seas experience, I think I would trade 3 of our guys for a true European star.
Example: would you rather have Mathis, Johnson, and Deuchar? Or Freddy Ljunberg, or Jared Borgetti?

While Will Johnson probably has some potential, I don't think he's going to step right in and make an impact. Reading his bio, he's only scored a handful of goals in his few years of professional soccer. Maybe they were looking at the future, but for now he won't improve our team. Our defense will have to carry us to the playoffs, and after the last two games I'm really worried. We can't seem to win on the road, which is where the majority of our remaining games are.

I think our boys will do fine. Try not to forget we were missing a few key players during these last two matches. I still think the Dr. will get some goals rolling in for us and Fabián Espíndola will do the same if he starts to get some playing time.

He's only like 21, how much experience can a kid have at that age.
Also...I think we are setup to have a solid core of players for the next few years.
This year...I just hope we make the playoffs.

The good DR. | 2:23 p.m. Aug. 27, 2008
...and "will get some goals"....
Hmm, how long until his dry spell is over, and we have moved on? I'm sorry, I just don't see him scoring goals. Isnt he only with us for another season, and then he can practice Medicine? So...why should I be excited about him? He is just a tall, lanky, awkward dude, that hasnt finished his multiple chances.

I love the soccer lexicon. Phrases like "sick as a parrot", "over the moon" and "at the end of the day" are great - I hold a particular fancy for "early doors".
I'd love a feature compilation of the way soccer people mangle our beautiful language - it is a joy to behold because soccer is not a matter of life and death, it's much more important than that!

Will Johnson (and I am far too lazy to verify this) scored against Mexico in an Olympic qualifier.
Your beef if with George Bush | 10:56 a.m. Aug. 28, 2008
So from 948 AM:
Because Bush has imploded our economy, you can make more money cleaing up trash in a European stadium than you can starting for an MLS team.
Coming here would be a big pay cut for Ljungberg.
As for Borgetti, thanks to the TV money that his compatriots in the US generate for Mexican League teams; he would also have to take a pay cut to come here. Your beef is with Chris Cannon.

BTW, I am soooo tired of reading the phrase "plying their trade" in articles about soccer players abroad.
