So at least McCain/Romney won't be homeless, with about 16 houses between them. Such ordinary guys...

John Mc Lame and Mitt's the pits Romney...what a gruesome twosome...if they get elected there goes the world as we know it

"opens fire" and "uses both barrels".... may be colorful speech but pretty disappointing in the context of this article. Is this news or an opinion piece?

Hopeful | 2:44 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Right now, Romney seems like the country's only hope. I just can't see Obama or McCain running this country. Romney, in my opinion, could actually bring about real, positive change, and not just lip service. He's already proven it.

Mitt Romney.
What a totally disgusting human being!
Slimy right-wing politics through and through.
He sounds EXACTLY like Rush Limbaugh.

Finally...a voice of reason and honesty. With Obama we are walking in the dark not knowing which direction we are going.
Thanks Romney for your clarity and for your vision!

What is the combined number of homes owned by John McCain and Mitt Romney?
Commoner | 2:55 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Why does it take two people to write such a simplistic article which does nothing more than rehash what they've said before.

Romney is from that Cheney group of nasty neocons that has successfully managed to divide this great country in two:
Liberal America and Conservative America.
Divided we fall.
Especially in precarious times such as these.

As an Olympic volunteer.... | 2:59 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
...I would NEVER vote for Mitt Romney. "Much beloved"? He "saved" the Olympics? All he was, was someone who could step in and take credit for all the work others had done -- and posture a lot.
When he made his required visit to "our" venue, he wouldn't even look at us. He marched straight down the hall, eyes straight ahead, right into the room where all the fancy foods had been set up in his honor. He shook hands, took some pictures with the venue heads, and that was it. Later, it was reported he'd met "many volunteers". Yeah, sure.
As for you people who'd vote for him, you would never have heard of him if he wasn't Mormon...and you're voting for him ONLY because he is.
Utah really doesn't matter. Thank God.

Who cares? | 3:05 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Who cares how many homes anyone owns? How is that relevant?
If it's relevant at all, wouldn't you rather have someone who can put themselves into a position to buy multiple homes, rather than a person who can't? Which one would really be better at running the world's largest corporation, the U.S.A.?
But that doesn't really matter.
Those who think Romney is slimy or dishonest are completely out of touch with reality, putting white for black and black for white. Don't listen to them.
Mitt Romney made some mistakes in speaking during the campaign, but he's made very few mistakes in his business and leadership career, and even fewer in his personal life and family where it really counts the most. He is an honest man and an impeccable manager capable of running our country better than any of the current crop of candidates.
And don't spew that crapola about Mitt firing people and shipping jobs overseas to turn companies around. If it were that simple every company would do it. It takes the right people and tremendous expertise to turn a failing company around, and Mitt is one of the few in the entire world that can do it.

Mitt Romney is a wonderful example of the American Nightmare.
He ran a company that bought companies, fired workers (aka, downsizing) and then sold the company.
Great Ugly American story.

Judgement | 3:09 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
I agree with Mitt on Obama's lack of judgement.
In 1970 when I returned home from Vietnam to be honorably seperatd from the military at Travis AFB,they told us to ware civilian clothes to the airport because the Weather Underground were throwing blood on the returning troops. Bill Aires and his wife we their leaders. The Obamas show lack judgement for being active friends of these two. The Weather Underground must have ran of blood because, they only spat at us that day.

Houses? | 3:11 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Who cares how many homes they own? Everyone in politics at their level is rich! Obama himself is a multi-millionaire! And guess what's worse? He has a half-brother in Kenya who makes a dollar a day... with no help from his millionaire "savior" Barack Obama. So much for the democrats theory that they are the "people's party". Their own pick for president doesn't even have the charity to help his own flesh and blood but he wants to raise all of our taxes to pay for the poor in this country? I think he needs to start leading by example before I'm convinced.
Big D | 3:14 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
All of the Marxist Romney haters need to get a clue. Obama would lead this country to higher taxes and communism. Why should I pay higher taxes to support all the lazy people that vote for Obama because they want hand-outs. This country wasn't founded on hand-outs and won't survive on them either.
Dear Anoynomus | 3:14 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Seeing your hatred and loathing (does that include his religion too?) of a truly remarkable and hands down brilliant individual who lives and shows impeccable character and your unconcealed envy of what his hard work and how much success the application of his smarts has brought him, I can see how you fit the socialist, liberal, class envy, simple minded and what looks like bigoted anti-Mormon mold of a lock step Obama worshiper.
Fortunately there are those of us who know and recognize your ilk.
I wonder, how do you view the very similar to Romney individuals who lived a couple of hundred years ago named Washington, Jefferson, Franklin etc. etc.?

What difference does it make how many homes a person owns? Stop whining about what you don't have and try to learn something from someone who is successful and used his abilities to better himself. Mitt has earned his wealth honestly and we would benefit from the skills he has mastered.
Re: Anonymous | 3:17 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008

I love how everything goes back to McCain being a war hero. I mean I understand that is a big deal but doesn't it lesson it to use it as the excuse for EVERYTHING?

That's a far fetched story here that Mitt Romney was (was is the key word here, because he sounded kind of tuff when running for President a few times, the rest of the time he sounded gay per se) upbeat, and in GOP attack mode (oh I am sure he had a smile on his face and acted like he was a Bishop in his ward on the stand to) during a private meeting with a number of liberal reporters. I really don't care that Romney, is much beloved in Utah because of his saving of the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics and through his LDS faith, we know he is on the shortlist of people the Republican presidential candidate and McCain could name him as his vice presidential running mate, but McCain hates Mormon's and don't know much about their kind. But all the best to him, hopefully he'll find a job in Government soon. Seeing he's poor and looking for work ?!. Like the rest of the middle class he ignores along with McCain and also Obamacon to. But their all we got to vote for, oh well.

I'm not sure that saying someone has "opened fire" on Obama is the most responsible headline I've ever seen. I think the meaning is fairly clear given a moment's reflection, but at first glance I thought for a moment that Obama had actually been shot, or at least shot at. Not really something to be joking about, is it?

What the heck does it matter how many houses anybody owns? How many would you own if you had the brains to invest. I don't understand why everyone doesn't aspire to own lots of things, especially things that bring in income. All you class envy people need to get off your butts and figure out how to accumulate. There is enough abundance in this world for every man, woman and child to have all they want. If you have enough now, why, then, put down others for what they have? I would trust a person with ambition above all you dead beat complainers. I don't own even one house but I intend to own a bunch soon. Than, maybe I'll run for president and teach all you dead beats how to buy houses. All Obama wants to do is keep you complaining and if he gets elected you will have lots to complain about. I don't want him in tere but if he is, I'm still going to buy lots of houses because he can't stop me. Only I can stop myself. Go McCain. Go Romney. Kick Obama's Stuff.

Liberals need to give up on the silly "number of homes" argument.
Are you not the same group that was teary-eyed for Ted Kennedy last night while they played footage of growing up on yachts? How many homes does he own? How about Kerry or Hillary?
Oh, I get it. Being a multimillionaire is okay if you don't actually make your money or buy your homes legitimately. Down-to-earth real people buy homes with the help of felons, through shady land deals (aka Whitewater), from fortunes gained through political empires or undisclosed contributors.
Get a grip people. Yeah, McCain's loaded and has managed money well enough to buy more than one home without the help of felons or corrupt investors. But go ahead, vote for the poor guy from Chicago who went to exclusive, private schools for his entire life and hangs out of terrorists. Once he taxes everyone in America to death, we can all live in a hut like his brother.

I wrote the following comments in a letter to the editor a week or so ago and they are just as appropriate now...
The Democrats attacking Mitt Romney when they put up a candidate like Barack Obama is humorous at best. Let's compare Romney's track record to Obama's...
Romney’ record- Helped run/build a very successful business that employed thousands and invested in companies to make them successful so they could hire thousands more. Helped turn around an Olympics that was deep in the red into what some say was the most successful games in history. Balanced a state budget without raising taxes. Helped pass a universal health care system that wasn't government run (until the MA liberals got their hands on it).
Obama’s record- Not much. Oh yeah, he was a community organizer. Can anyone actually tell me one accomplishment that Obama has had as a US or Illinois Senator other than kicking a drug habit, giving good speeches and leaving a racist, anti-American church?

All these people that are criticizing McCain and Romney for the number of homes they have and being succesfull business men makes no sense to me. Would you rather have the LEADER of the entire country be someone who doesn't get it when it comes to economics and lives off of welfare in government housing? I consider myself an independant voter, and this logic is just ridiculous to me. Give me a leader who has had success and proven it.

What does owning more than one house have to do with running the country. How many every day guys own more than one house. Quite a few I would guess.
I do think the Clinton clan, the Kennedy clan and the Kerry clan own more than one home. If I were wealthy, I probably would, too!!!

Who cares how many houses they own!! Are you jealous or something. You have every opportunity to buy as many homes as you want also. These are men that have lived the American dream like everyone else. They earned whatever they have just as everyone has that opportunity. Some make more than others that's all. You sound silly.

Mitt Romney knows how to lead and make efficient productive organizations out utter messes. For the life of me, I am not sure why anyone w/ common sense would be against this man, Mormon or not.
As for his personal financial situation, why are we so negative against a man that that actually has been successful and worked hard for what he has. He deserves every penny of it, just as you and I do for our honest efforts day in and day out.

What is the total number of dollars donated by Barak Hussein Obama to his good brother George while he basks in his four million dollar mansion?
Obama VS Fidel Castro | 3:56 p.m. Aug. 26, 2008
Both came on the scene amidst trouble. Both promise(d) change with NO DEFINITION. BOTH promise(d)equality among the people, both promise(d) health care for all.
Fidel gave equality in all being poor. Fidel gave all health care in the form of a gun in the mouth and guns removed from public ownership. Fidel thinks he is god. Fidel is a dictator whom the people regret ever giving power.
Obama fits the same mold very nicely. He promises equal everything for all. He promises to remove tax cuts that kept America strong through crisis. He promises to take it out on corporations--who just happen to keep our nation going...they hire, they employ, they produce. Yeah, lets hurt them! Those evil corporations! Blame them for your woes! Somebody must take the blame!
Obama would drive this nation into socialism with his liberal friends. LISTEN to his words! Listen to Nancy Polosi! Listen people. Do you really want a man with NOOOOOOO EXPERIENCE running our country?
Michelle Obama said last night how much Barak has done in the Senate to fight for human rights, etc...Pardon ME MRS OBAMA, your husband has been running for President the entire time in Senate.

McCain earned his homes? The man left his first wife and immediately married the second, a rich woman who owns all these homes. Around here we call it pre-marital property.
