This is one of those cases where CPS should sever parental rights--immediately. Mother obviously will not protect the child, isn't meeting with the people she should. Father is seriously abusive. Lifestyle is transient--if this little one is returned, the family will disappear and who will protect the child then?

I agree that this guy sounds like a rotten father. But under Utah law, CPS can't sever a parent's rights unless it can substantiate (prove) that serious and continuing abuse occurred. If the only witness has fled, CPS and the prosecuting attorneys are kind of stymied.

yea but in utah its always a reduced charge when it comes to kids.

I say give him life by making him a human football that the NFL would love to kick around. In all seriousness, this sorry thing (opps, animal) needs to go to prison for life. And never, I mean never is allowed to have children again....
