What this man did was so wrong it beggars description. The impact on this 85 year old helpless woman, and on her husband and family cannot be fully understood by those of us not personally impacted by similar behavior.

His background does not excuse his actions. It is also suggested in the article that he had inappropriate behavior with other patients.

A sentence of one to 15 years hopefully will translate into more than 365 days. Closer to the 15 years would still not be too much for what he did, not only to this patient, but presumably other helpless women also.

Letting him out in a short period of time leaves him free to victimize again. Perhaps not in a nursing home situation (presumably he would be unemployable in that field from now on).

Question: Would he now have to be permanently registered as a sex offender? and would this show up any time he applied for a job that might include working with children or as a home helper or anything similar?

Also, is ongoing treatment/therapy going to be required of him?

I agree with the victims husband. Castration is the way to go. With any rape case, castration should be looked at.

Well, we can just hope that his "Prison Buddies" will take care of the rest of the sentence. And I am a nurse who has worked with this piece of trash before!
