I think the complete opposite of you. This last season was painful to watch after two very good and one decent season. I think the show lost viewers no matter what after the first season because you are correct in the difficult nature of writing, but the after-strike was poor.

I LOVE LOST! I don't understand it and it makes me crazy, but I love it!!!!! I love the characters (gosh I miss Charlie). I love all the websites with all the theories that watchers come up with because I'm not that creative. I'm sure Lost will be just like Star Wars, Star Trek, and alot of other tv shows where people are going to pick up on the ideas and Barnes & Noble will be stocked skyhigh with continuations of the story. And I look forward to reading every one! "Kate, we have to go back!"

I am a BIG fan of Lost, and I have to disagree with both previous assessments... season 1 was great, 2 was good, 3 was pretty much AWFUL and stretched on FOREVER... but 4 was pretty much a return to excellent form. Who am I kidding though, even my least favorite (season 3) was still my favorite thing on TV by far. I can't say enough about this series... just ask all my friends (who grow tired of my constant Lost evangelism)!

Hey Guys, DC and CC as well as JJ Abrams have said from day one that they had a plan. They had story lines from start to finish. Basically outlining the entire season. It was originally mapped out to be 5 or 6 seasons.
The network wanted it to go on for longer that is why S-2 (my least favorite by far) seemed to just tread water. As soon as they sat down and hammered out an ending date, the story telling kicked into high gear....S-4 showed as much promise as S-1 did.....Can't wait for S-5!
For any of the newbies to the show, there are tons of theory sites and message boards. Some are Huge and intimidating, Others are smaller and more quaint and personable. My favorite is 2minus2.com
Enjoy the show...Good article by the way!

It's really as simple as this: Lost is the best TV series ever made. Period. The best writing, the best acting, the best cinematography, the most compelling story line, Evangeline Lilly. What more is there to say? In my opinion, only Twin Peaks and Northern Exposure come close to Lost. Very little else is worth watching on primetime network television.

Lost is not the best TV series ever made but it ranks high. What about Picket Fences, Chicago Hope, the earlier years of ER, LA Law, last season's Pushing Daisies, The Cosby Show and M*A*S*H? Writers need to find go back to those shows to find the formula for successful shows and create new ones. No more blood and guts of shows like CSI or the sex of Law and Order or Boston Legal. Good clean, high-quality shows are badly needed. I'll watch Lost til the end to see how everything finally fits together.

I've said all along that they have been making this up as they go along. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be faithful to their own cannon.
But despite all that, I've continued to be entertained by the show. If they really sit down and figure out the plot trajectory for from now to the end, it could be really great since they are clearly creative and talented writers.
