It is one thing to recognize and report there seems to be a significance to certain numbers, it another to know what the significance is and what it means for us now and in the future.

From What I understand the JWs don't hold the number 144,000 "sacred" but rather believe it is the number going to heaven

Well, it would be interesting to know if any of these numbers are more common in day-to-day life as well as in special texts. Perhaps it is simply common for humans to gravitate to these numbers - 12 months in a year, 7 days in a week, 2 peas in a pod, 12 dancing princesses, 6.66 the sign of really expensive gas.

Numbers do have their own power,however they almost all break done into single digits.For instance 40 is actually 4 (4+0=4)which breaks down to work or a task.The 666, becomes a 9(6+6+6=18=1=8=9).9 is the end (or the beginning),finalization, and many people interpret as death which may be why it is the mark of the beast in Revelation.
