Billy,

We are happy for you here in Duchesne. Creating a title town atmosphere for the gridiron gang is definately easier said than done. Winning a state title in any sport is a daunting task, and somewhat rare at Duchesne considering all of the stud athletes that have come through the school. The only thing that could make things better would be if you were to take over the basketball program as well. Stan has seen his glory day, and with the atheletes he's had the priveledge to coach, he should have 5 or six championship rings on right now. And Darren is a good hearted guy, but he's never played the game like you have, and he lacks the killer instinct that is so crucial for a coach to possess. It shows in the way he coaches as well. Good luck this season man. We know you are living a dream, and we're happy for ya buddy. Like I said, success on the football field could translate into a head spot on the b-ball court...which is what duchesne desperately needs.

Tyler Reinhart was so fun to watch the last 2 years. He will be greatly missed from a fans perspective. So fast and athletic. Instant entertainment when he toted the rock.

Duchesne could have had lots of state rings. The reason they dont has nothing to do with the coach. It's the players on the court. The coach cant make them win. And Billy knows that. He played for Stan last time i checked. So did the whole Super Hoopes clan. How about Billy thinks about Football for now..

Do the eagles field a baseball team
Coach K | 12:12 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Calm down skippy(s), last time I checked this was still 1-A football!!! Most team that the eagles have beaten over the past decade are more suited for 6 or 8 man football rather that the watered down version of 11 man game the uhsaa is consumed with... if 1-A did play 8 man football, Tabiona would rock Duchesne's world simply because they have better athletes... problem is not enough!
Re: coach K. | 1:51 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Tabiona has never seen the likes of a Tyler Reinhardt, he was one of the best football players to go through the basin in the last 30 years period. The title team of 06 was awesome. Tabiona athletes should just stick to 1A baseball, since they've never won a title in that sport. One sport at a time tiggers.
Hey Coach K | 2:01 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Oh uh huh. Tabiona does have better athletes than duchesne....Please. Tabiona has won 3 state championships in school history. 2 in boys b-ball, and 1 in girls b-ball. Let me educate you on how many duchesne has won. 1 in football, 1 in basketball, 2 in wrestling, 3 in track, 2 in cross country, and 5 in drill team. Tabioa athletes dont dare wrestle duchesne. You can say... well, tabiona doesn't have a wrestling program. My answer to that is tabiona could start a wrestling program, and at least field a couple of individual wrestlers despite not having a full team. But they don't because they know that Duchesne has a stronger kid in every weight class. Duchesne has had several guys go on to play college ball, Jason Young (CEU) The hoopes boys (SUU) ect ect. And the track stars Duchesne has produced over the years blows tabiona out of the water. over 40 individual state champions, not to mention the title winning cross-country runners they've had over the years. Please. Tabiona has had 3 good athletes over the last 40 yrs. Price, Levi Gines, and Casper. Thats it. Duchesne has had tons of champions in all sports.

over the past ten years, duchesne has had had better athletes than tabiona.
Tabiona's star (all State, champion) athletes can be counted on 1 hand. (Price, Casper, Levi Gines, Stringham, Savanna Gines)

Duchesne's vast list of star (champion/all-state) athletes include Sam hoopes 2 time 1st team all stater B-ball & football & shot put champ) The moat brothers Brandon & cody who between the two of them won 7 Wrestling titles, 5 cross-country titles, 2 pole vault crowns, two 1600 meter titles, two 3200 meter titles, and team titles in track 1993 and cross country 1994. Nick Karren, Current USU track star who was a 4 time state title winner, and currently holds several state records. The despain boys logan, landon & weston who won several 100 meter crowns, and were each all state football recipients.

8 man football!!! If you get as many kids you have doin b-ball (plus there would be more) then you could have a full football team you are all just scared... Also this senior class is still atheletic with Selby Reinhardt and Derek Herrera.... Also the big boy Jake Evans not only can he block but I have heard he can run the ball pretty good too.

I think Tabiona, Wayne, Panguitch, Piute should all field football teams. If one A needs to go 8 man lets do it. Ive played both and 8 man is a very tough game, much more work on the O and D line, and fun as heck to play. If you 8 man several others like dugway, escalante, and maybe some others could also fields teams

Hey Coach K this was an article about a very small community doing the best they can to support a football program. Your comments are unwelcome and untrue. Who is Coach K and where is he from. Give us a chance to defend our athletes.
Kadog7 | 10:50 a.m. Aug. 23, 2008
Coach K must not be from the Basin since he assumes that Duchesne has played teams more suited to 6 or 8 man teams. True there are teams from schools with less of a population that Duchesne "must" play because of the region, however, all other teams we have played in the last 25 years are usually larger than Duchesne in the 1A or we played teams that should have been 2A (ie, Park City, South Summit). Playing 6 or 8 man football so all schools can play is pointless, it would be the laughing stock and these young men would have less of a chance to play at a higher level. Tabiona has some fine athletes, if they were the same size of Duchesne perhaps they would be competitive, they are not so we will never know. Just be happy for Duchesne and their success, anything less is pointless. Oh yes, (3A) carbon 0, (1A) Duchesne 12. Enough said.

You all must be boys bragging it up as always. Well there have been awesome athletes go through all the schools. The one thing that outsiders don't know is that how billy hoopes treats the hard working so called studs. oh and by the way g is an amazing coach. if you knew anything about basketball then you qould know that for sure. if it ever came down to g or hoopes. G tops him anyday.

Billy will be a great coach. I've Been coached by Daron and He is a great coach. Cowan was the best coach at Duchesne Though. Tabiona has never played football so they don't know anything about it, they have good athletes though I've played them in Basketball but Football is a whole different ball game. Tabiona should stick to what there known for, Basketball.
Obsessed with Jake | 8:54 a.m. Sept. 5, 2008
All that stuff about Jake E. is SO TRUE!! That guy is such a stud muffin! He is develishly good looking and his beard is so rugged that you just HAVE to touch it. Not only is he way tough and a great football player he is really smart too; he is taking a few college classes that aren't easy. Man this guy is awesome!

ya Duchesne football players are studs, all of them way down to the freshmen.Tabiona may have more basketball titles but thats because they always get put in an easy bracket in state.Duchesne is easily dominant in 1a sports they are always in contention for the championship and should not be overlooked by anyone.
