Desert Hills is a joke! Webster has no chance of leading the team.

Why does the | 4:21 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
schedule not include Pine View?? I'm sure the Thunder would love to play their cross town buddies.
Scheduling | 5:11 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
To eliminate Pine View's bye on Oct 24, and Desert Hills' bye on Sep 24, why not schedule a Desert Hills vs. Hurricane game on Sep 24, and move PV vs HHS to Oct 24? One more game for everyone's kids.
Game Dates Correction | 5:21 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
Current Schedule:
Sep 26 Hurricane at Pine View, Desert Hills bye
Oct 24 Desert Hills at Hurricane, Pine View bye

Proposed:
Sep 26 Desert Hills at Hurricane
Oct 24 Desert Hills at Pine View or PV at DHHS

Kids don't sign up to play football and put in all that work to have 'byes'.

Anonymous, a cowardly name in it'self, did you not make the team? Why start kicking the new guy around? What is under your skin so bad that you start knockin the NKOTB? Just because they won't beat Pine View this season? Grab ahold of your inner man and cool out! I for one am glad to see another 3A team and hope they can be somewhat competive this year! It aint the QB's fault no more'n it's your's that Desert Hills is opening their first season this year! Back Off a little chicken little!
Scheduling Idea | 5:51 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
No, that wouldn't work...it would just give PV a bye on Sep 26 instead of Oct 24. The monkey-wrench went in when Desert Hills was given the option not to play one of the 4A schools. If you're in Region 9, why aren't you obliged to play all Region 9? PV had Canyon View for its last game last season, and PV's starters played the first half, and one series in the 2nd half...after that, their JV's took over for the most part. The same could be done with DHHS if PV's too much. But boys don't sign up for football, and put in all that work, for a 'bye.'

Berkley Ward is a STUD. SC's loss is definitly DH's gain.
Thunder Knows Best | 11:14 a.m. Aug. 12, 2008
DHHS purposefully opted not to schedule PV in their inaugural season. PV has a senior laden team that can only get better by playing strong 4A teams. Scheduling a start-up 3A team with very few seniors is not a challenge that will make PV better. In the event PV plays TV later in the season, how will a blow-out against a very young team prepare PV to play against a state champion?
Thunder | 5:03 p.m. Aug. 12, 2008
It isn't the outcome as much as it is game experience, esp. for underclassmen, for both schools. Game experience is a whole different animal than practice. And, whether we like it or not, stats are important to D-1 hopefuls, those close to breaking Region/State records, etc. Byes produce zero stats.

Thank you for the articles introducing the DHHS team. It is neat to see young athletes have an opportunity to compete and develop. I know that these young athletes have worked hard to build teamwork and comrodary. These athletes are following their coach's example to think as a team and not as a few super stars. Critics can say all they want, but from a bystanders observation, the coaching staff has really won the hearts of the team. As a fan of the DHHS team, I look forward to watching their games. Thanks again to the Deseret News for publishing some good articles. Go Thunder!

I hope the comment regarding Chase Webster wasn't from a PV fan! We should be more mature than that! Not to mention, we were just cheering for him last year in his PV Freshman gear!
Chase is not only a great young man he is a very talented athlete. He displayed maturity beyond his years as early as the first week of June in full contact scrimmages @ USU. I have heard sideline rumblings from PV people about wanting to play DH now and how we'd dominate. Well, we'd better right now. We've got a huge head start and one of the best teams PV's ever had. But, watch out for DH in the future. They have some very strong prospects to work with.
So, since you are good friends and/or cousins of my kids, good luck to you, DHHS boys!
And, keep working hard, PV. Don't pay too much attention to the hype OR the critics, just enjoy the game while you have the good fortune to play it.

This team will be great! win or lose they will have the memory of starting the traditons. The coaches and the team have worked hard and because the school is small their unity is large.
GO THUNDER !

Chase Webster is playing varsity quarterback and leading a 3a team as a sophomore. Has anyone at pineview in any position accomplished this in the past 5 years?
Dugway | 9:26 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Well when I played at Dugway in 1978 I played Varsity Quarterback and I was only in 8th grade. You know it just had to happen we didn't have anyone else but at the same time I was pretty good and I wish the best to Chase if he can start at QB as sophomore then more power to him and his thunder squad. I don't know much about Pineview so I'll have to get back to you on that one.

Sonny Listach did it when the school first opened he was one heck of a QB. Good luck to Chase and the rest of the Thunder. Does anyone know Listach is today?

Burkeley ward tore the miniscus in his knee in the first week of our 2 a-day camp. He had surgery on the 18 and will be back in 5 weeks.

This is to whoever posted the comment about Chase Webster not being able to lead the thunder team this season. Tonight was our first game against the Uintah Utes. 36-3. Thanks to Mr. Webster for staying calm in the pocket and leading our team down the field for each hard earned touchdown!

I attended PV so it was kinda hard to see my younger brother switch to DHHS, but after seeing how awesome they played last night I'd much rather cheer for them than PV. DHHS has got some very classy coaches. At PV, the coaches put the JV in with only a few minutes remaining each game, even if it was a blow out. Last night DHHS coaches put the JV in basically the entire 4th quarter and the JV got the last TD. It's good to see everyone get in and play. It makes the team very unpredictable. PV was fun to watch last year, but they were so predictable it was annoying. I'm excited to see what DHHS will produce this year. Props to the sophomore QB! The kid played a heck of a game! Way to show all those senior QB's what's up! Hatch, way to get the first TD for DHHS! What an honor for all your hard work! It's good to see someone finally recognizes your talent and actually uses you! PV really missed out on a very talented player last year and will kick themselves when they see how you do this year. Go DHHS!
DHHS | 7:07 p.m. Aug. 23, 2008
I have to agree with the above. These coaches are really giving everyone a chance. Great job also to Brad Roper and Quentin Owen. It is going to be great to watch this team and what they bring to this season.
Uintah | 12:59 p.m. Aug. 24, 2008
I wouldn't get to excited DHHS fans with your success in beating arguably one of the worst teams in Utah. You have to give your coaches and the Athletic director credit for putting together a pre-season full of struggling or upstart teams. Last year unitah and elderado had a combined win total of one, this year they will be lucky to match that. With a team full of young players... the easy preseson should give DHHS some confidence going into the regular season. Good Luck! KUDO's to DHHS coaches.
DHHS | 11:28 p.m. Aug. 25, 2008
Congrats to DHHS on their first game. It was a fun game to watch. The new school showed lots of spirit. All players and fans need to be respectful at all times to their former schools. Former coaches and fans have supported the game snd players in the past, even though they play the game with their own future program in mind. I know a few coaches who have treated some of these players with a great deal of class. My hat is off to people who care. The neat part about DHHS is opportunity! So Thunder, make the most of it, and show your stuff on the field, and show respect and honor to your school.

pine view is just scared they had the chance to play DESERT HILLS they just didn't want to get beat by a brand new school GO THUNDER

the reason why jv doesnt go in at pv is because they make a seperate division called Jv so the players can get reps duh

Go luck to Chase Webster. He had a great start and it is to bad he will most likely be out the season with his injury.
We will look forward to your return bigger and better than ever! These coaches are awesome, I am sure they will work with Blake and keep us on the path to victory!
GO THUNDER!

dhhs is a great school and in a few years will be something to recon with. ya we are a new school, and ya we have young teams, but we have amazing coaches not only in football, but in everything. our athletic director mrs. mconnel is amazing at what she does, and knew what she was doing when she hired our coaches. they all have the same view and want to prove that desert hills is a great school with amazing unity. everyone here loves everyone else. i love this school, it is amazing to go here and the atmosphere at this school rocks. everyone comes each day to enjoy themselves. so everyone with speculations about our school just please shut up, because garuntee that the school you are going to went through the same thing once before, even if you weren't there!

for the comment about hase, dude i bet you don't even know the kid. so before you make rude comments about the guys ability to lead our team maybe you should meet the kid first. chase is one of my personal friends, and is an amazing kid. he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and loves desert hills. he is ready to kick some butt once he comes back. so he can't play now, but when he comes back he will be ready to show all of you people who say these comments what he is all about!

DHHS has gotten off to a great start, they have a lot of team spirit, great coaching staff that has pulled it all together. Lets just keep it that way, it is all about the kids. Those seniors came over to have an oportunity to play for once and to stop being shoved to the back of the bench for political reasons not abilities and there are more than a dozen more of them that just gave up and arent playing anywhere. Those 10 seniors have got more guts and passion for the game then anyone, it will be that passion that will rub off onto their team mates that will carry them thru the first season. I am sure we will all be suprised just how far drive, ambition and passion for the game will carry them. Most of all lets remember this and not let politics, money and parents living thru their boys ruin the future thunder teams to come. Let the coaches continue what they have started, a great thunder tradition where any athlethe can come out, work hard and earn a position with talent and potential. GO THUNDER SHOW EM ALL !!!!!!
