Too bad they have to run during the summer. That coach just expects so much! Too bad parents are destroying the program from the outsider in. Expecting the kids to run during summer conditioning? What have we come to?

Snow Canyon has a large group of parents who are truly a piece of work. If their boys aren't winning, it must be (1) The Coach, (2) Rigged refs, (3) other teams' dirty play, (3) Pres. Bush's poor economic plan, whatever. Why don't all the Snow Cyn little league dads and soccer moms just zip it and support the program with all the positivism they can? Region 9 is tired of your constant carping.
for real | 11:10 a.m. Aug. 9, 2008
if parents at snow canyon didnt cry so much this team could actually be good after all they have by far the most kids by a few hundred, parents keep holding the team back its workin great

To Snow Canyon's football coach;
It isn't about you. Your comments "if I'm going to go down I'm going to go down with my best players on the field,"
Once you begin to understand the core idea of coaching you'll become very good. Until you loose the "me, I, ego" you will continue to miss what potential is under your nose. First off "you" don't go down, you don't play, your past that, now all "you" can do is learn that everyone is in it together, try the phrase "we" once in a while. Begin to listen to feedback, not always coaching feedback but communication feedback, most importantly, your a teacher first, then a coach. I hope this year you will recognize that, get over yourself and learn to help kids not your own image.
Too often coaches have a false sense or realism, when a kid makes an error they get angry with the kid because the coach thinks they have been made to look bad. Learn to "coach", like a carriage, "too carry."
Wishing program success and the kids a valuable time.

Not tough | 1:51 p.m. Aug. 9, 2008
I use to play football in an area much hotter than St. George and we had to run all the time. Those were the tough days but it made us tough. Now there are a bunch of cry baby parents who are making wimps out of their boys!

Adam,
Good luck to you and your team. It all comes down to players who are leaders and I know you'll do great at whatever position you end up at.

Adam,
Just go to Provo early and play for Timpview or maybe you like the blue and whit colors and Bingham would suite you. I heard they are looking for a great runningback to get them another championship. Sounds like where you are at you will be sitting at home in November come playoff time.

BYU fans can see him play when he plays in Utah Valley??? I suggest we expand our world view a little bit. As my new DirecTV dish can attest, there are BYU fans EVERYWHERE, not just in Utah Valley.

Mark it down on your calendars...this is the year of the Tiger! Coach Homer and his team are primed for a great year. Go Tigers! Go Tigers! Go TIGERS!

All of us in Region 9 ought to be on the same page about one thing--an undefeated pre-season for all our 4A/3A teams. Within Region 9? The Panthers are LOADED. With their first three games against two Utah state 2nd round play off teams (MV & CW) with #8 in CA Dominguez sandwiched in between, if PV goes 3-0, they will be in the driver's seat to make it back to Rice-Eccles. That's not a knock on any other Region 9 program--there are no 'easy' wins in Region 9 this year. But PV is just plain loaded.

The Deputy | 11:31 p.m. Aug. 9, 2008
We should never run from our problems! We should look at them as another step in the ladder of success once we run it's hard to ever step up and be the man we could have been. We never really tackle adversity if we leave. As Warriors we need to stay the course and work together to achieve the great things life has in store for us. I believe in these young men and the hard work they have put in all year and these 70 players that will take the field Aug. 22nd have not quit on each other, and they can all stand tall wearing the green and gold because they are ONE! TOUCH GOLD!!!!!

ok first of all, i would like to apologize for that comment posted before this.
i really don't like it when people that aren't even part of sports go out and brag for their kids or nephews and what not.
yeah maybe we will have a good team this year, but that doesn't mean we need to say anything.
i really hope this wasn't one of the immature players on the team, because that just embarrasses me.
but snow canyon is always a fun game, and i can't wait to play them this year.
good luck to them and all the region 9 schools

United we Stand | 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10, 2008
I am a huge fan of Coach Seacrist. I know that it is HIS team. Last time I checked it was Bronco Mendenhall's team or Ron Hauns team. He was hired to take Snow Canyon Football in a new direction and keep the traditions of teams past and in the process create more traditions for these student/athletes to pass on to their brothers and sisters and his or hers future children and future student/athletes of Snow Canyon. Its not all about football people. Coach is preparing these young men for the future ahead. Alot of these young men will be leaders of this great community, school, and looked up to by many of the younger children all around them. By working hard in the off season it teaches these young men to be responsable and be held accountable. Parents need to realize that the coaching staff that Coach Seacrist has now he trusts, unlike the CLOWNS he had on his staff last year with an exception of two or three coaches that were there to mold those young men into leaders. Its funny to hear people talk negitive about someone they have never taken the time to get to know.

Good luck Adam... your a Stud! And by far the best Athlete in the state
St. George | 10:09 a.m. Aug. 11, 2008
Snow Canyon fans always want to know why the rest of St. George refers to them as whiner nation. Please read the blogs from your own fans. The parents whined when the school district tried to realign the school boundaries. The district caved in to the "whiner nation" parents. This upcoming school year they will have the largest student body by 300-400 students and yet they will most likely have the worst sports teams. The parents don't want to do the hard or right thing they want the easy way. This aint staples there isn't an easy button to push.
Anonymous | 1:11 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
A knowledgeable and experienced coach once told me that for every 100 students who play sports you can count on 1-3 super atheletes. The parents at SCHS put enough pressure on the School Board to make sure their school was the most populated. With the above numbers, SCHS will have have 8-12 super athletes from their extra students. 10-15 more super athletes than region 9's smaller schools. If Secrist doesn't produce a champion, he very well will be looking elsewere for a job next year...mostly thanks to those same parents.
Formulas Fail | 4:14 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
1,000 students = 10 super athletes? How did Cedar, a much smaller school than Pine View, make that a 34-29 game? How could Hurricane, much smaller than Dixie, Snow Canyon, and Pine View, be picked as 'the team to beat' in 2008? How did the Michigan Wolverines 36,000+ students) fall to Appalachian State (13,000+ students). There's so much more to what makes a great athlete, and great programs, than formulas.
GOOD LUCK | 4:29 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
THE PRINCIPAL CHOSE HIS COACH SO I GUESS THE REST OF US CLOWNS WILL HAVE TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT CIRCUS. THE ONLY CLOWNS ARE THE ONES IN THE COMMUNITY SUPPORTING BECAUSE THEIR SON HAS A CHANCE TO PLAY, MAYBE YOU SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY ON THE BANNER THAT WILL BE HUNG UP NEAR THE FIELD. DON'T TALK ABOUT PAST COACHES IF YOU HAVEN'T A CLUE WHAT WENT ON, OH YEAH THE FASADE ISN'T IN TOUCH GOLD YOU BAFOONS!!!
Region9Fan | 5:20 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
To Formulas Fail:
Hurricane is the "team to beat" in 3A region 9 and they should be. Pineview is the team to beat in 4A region 9 and they should be as well. I hate this split region stuff!!!

Stick to the subject! | 8:05 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
Adam is an awesome kid, and so is his family. He deserves all of the success that he achieves. Good job in moving him to QB, the more he touches the ball, the more chances they have to score. Can't wait to watch him play this year.
Glad to Live Elsewhere | 9:34 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
You Snow Canyon parents sound off like you're a different breed of humans! Relax, wow, can you say DRAMA? Maybe you should push for a reality show or base a Soap Opera after you Snow Canyon parents. Maybe you should endorse Obama, then your bad luck will rub off on him.
Re; Glad to live Els. | 3:13 p.m. Aug. 13, 2008
I'm Glad you live elsewhere. Because it's not that cut and dry. This coach is a real creep and if your son played for him you would be supporting the rest of the parents. It is drama, drama for our boy's.And we don't have bad luck we real good luck!Oh this makes me so mad !!

Mother | 10:30 p.m. Aug. 13, 2008
You sound like you would rather nurture then tell your kid to buck up and get the job done. There are parents that are in support with you? I bet you couldn't count them on your fingers. I know a lot that are behind the program 100% and the direction it is headed and we would need a calculator to add them all! So all 3 of you need to take a back seat and let the program move on!
Anonymous | 9:27 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I watched Adam play numerous times last year making the trip from Las Vegas to do so. I heard about his accolades in Vegas and wanted to give him a look. All I can say is WOW.... This kid is incredibly talented. i am not sure what the heck this coach is thinking by moving a truely talented RB out of the backfield. This kid is going to get killed as QB. I sure hope this kid doesn't get injured. My defense would be simple for this team - key on Timo - good luck with that move ??COACH??
re: Anonymous | 9:55 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Funny Funny Funny but if you are such a great football mind then you would know that the QB is in the backfield and something else for you to think about in a spread offense the center centers the ball directly to the QB (Timo) in a shot gun, it's kind of like getting rid of the middle man, genius! You're not far removed from the program either! (heard about his accolades?)
Defensive Genius | 10:43 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
If I played against Snow Canyon I would key on Timo! Wow, hopefully your not a defensive coordinator in Region 9, snow canyon would really be in trouble.
Warrior Nation | 11:01 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Its hard to gain trust in a team when all you hear is the negitive comments surrounding Snow Canyon Football and its coaching staff. I believe that this year Warrior Nation will go as far as the Warrior fans can take us. Either you get on board or get the heck off. The future is bright for this football program. If it is such a big deal to play for a (Nightmare of a coach) then transfer and someone else will step up and get that spot and probably will do better than that person. Last time I checked Bill Jacobsen isn't walking thru that locker room door anytime soon. To the new coaching staff I support you 100% Now lets go win STATE.
Kinda Funny | 11:10 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I am a proud parent of a Snow Canyon Football player. I am really impressed with Coach Secrist and his new staff. It is good to see all the coaches out together and actually laughing and joking at practice. I think this staff is the best staff thats ever been on the sidelines for the Warrior's. I hope that the people who are trying to tear our team apart from the inside are proud of themselves for telling them the football team lies and trying to steal our players away from us and recruiting them to play for other schools. This is just another black eye for our tradition and what it stands for here at Snow Canyon High School. We as parents should thank Coach Secrist for teaching our children a good work ethic and holding our children accountable. Lets start a new tradition with this team. Lets win and praise this team for being such role models in our town.
why are you on here | 10:55 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
kinda funny: i disagree with what you say about other schools trying to take players from sc. there are a few players from sc that have said they want to come to surrounding schools. we arent stealing them if they dislike the coach and want to leave the program. I dont even see how you are complaining about anything when with the new realignment your school had no kids that were forced to leave only the ones that wanted to. sc has 200 to 300 more kids then surrounding schools and your complaining because some of your players want to leave. good luck to timo at qb though he is a threat no matter where he is on the field
MerrHell | 3:49 a.m. Aug. 30, 2008
I thoroughly enjoy watching Timo at quarterback, tailback, punter, and linebacker. I'm even more proud to say he is a class act and great role model.
I also enjoy watching the Larsen boy try that new spread offense. Its exciting, new and different! It's also complicated, increases the likelihood for turnovers, and takes more than one or two years to learn to execute consistently. My vote is to work together to build a winning program.
Good luck to all region 9 teams. I'll be pulling for you, whoever you are, in November.
