cupcake region schedule | 3:09 p.m. Aug. 8, 2008
Since Hurricane whined long enough to get Pine View, Dixie and Snow Canyon emergently ejected from 3A and placed into 4A, they now appear to have gotten what they wished for: a cupcake region schedule. Canyon View and Desert Hills are going to be very weak, and usually tough Cedar, is in a rebuilding year, so Hurricane will have no region challengers. They are virtually
guaranteed a playoff spot and will likely get the number one seed. Too bad their maneuverings come at the cost of what was once a competitive region 9. Good luck Hurricane you are now a big fish in a very tiny pond.

Hurricane had nothing to do with the changing of 3A to 4A. Get your facts straight. Sounds like you need someone to blame. Instead of spending your time slamming Hurricane, why don't you put the same energy into supporting your own team. Have a little class. Gee Whiz.

hurricane is a great team. and has lots of potential this year. they should make a run for there money. and shine. with returning starter gordie dotson he will lead the way for this offense. and with gary bracken on defense he will also be the key to stopping the outstanding recievers. this team will be phenomonal

While there's no profit in making much of it, the facts are straight--Hurricane was a prime mover in the 3A-4A split region. Their coach was highly vocal in favor of the split, whatever he purports his reasons to be at this point. Now that's the straight facts. If you can't own it, don't say it or do it, and certainly don't go public trying to gloss over or deny a fact that all insiders know to be true. End story.

Ignorance is truly bliss. Wes Christiansen, Hurricane's patron saint, Washington County School Board President and the only Region Nine UHSAA board member, has skillfully eliminated almost all of Hurricane's competition in Region Nine and 3A (Logan will be out next year). Hurricane now has what it wished for: a cakewalk into the playoffs and very few real competitors after that. Problem is a team's respect depends entirely on its competition, which means Hurricane can finally win it all now and no one will care.
Reality Check | 9:39 p.m. Aug. 9, 2008
Wes eliminated the competition or did the UHSAA make a long overdue decision at a bad time for Region 9 4A schools? The 650-700 students at Desert Hills came from two schools, Dixie and Pine View. You add 325 to each school and that puts them in "OLD" 4A numbers. (1200) Snow Canyon has always had 4A numbers before and after the switch. Logan has always had 1200 students. Why are people still blaming HHS for a move that should have been made years ago? Numbers are Numbers. Either we follow them or the system is broken.

So, GEE WHIZ. so your saying by "winning it all", you mean the state title. no one will care?

so nobody cares if logan wins the title? or timpview, or alta?

obviously your one of REAL WHINERS down in Snow Canyon that is pissed they have a horrific coach for thier team and they are going to miss the playoffs for the second straight year.

and one final question, if Hurricane beats snow canyon this year, (which they most likely will because snow canyon only has timo coming back), and wins the state title. Will nobody care? or just every single person in Santa Clara, AKA Snow Canyonville?

crap. people whine too much. Fact is, Hurricane is probably going to do well.. playing against teams their size for once.

What? | 7:42 a.m. Aug. 11, 2008
So Cup Cake, Cedar gets a new quaterback and it's a re-building season?
FOOLISH THINKING | 4:25 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
WES CHRISTIANSEN IS THE ONLY REASON WHY HURRICANE IS BY ITS LONESOME. WES IS THE ONLY ONE WHO BEHIND HAMMERS ADVICE STOOD IN FRONT OF THE PANEL UP NORTH AND CONTRADICTED EVERYTHING HAMMER WAS WORKING TOWARDS WHICH WAS A 5 TEAM REGION IN REGION 9. NUMBERS DON'T MEAN TOO MUCH IF THE NUMBERS DON'T HAVE ATHLETES. TUACAHN HAS NUMBERS TOO, SO WHAT! NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY SORRY OLD HURRICANE ANYWAY, PV, SC, DHS, AND DESERT HILLS WON'T WANT TO PLAY A TEAM THAT ASKS FOR A 1ST PLACE TROPHY AFTER LOSING A STATE CHAMP. GAME AGAINST LOGAN BECAUSE OF NUMBERS. EVEN IF THEY WIN 1 GAME LIKE LAST YEAR OH YEAH 2 THEY WILL BE IN THE PLAYOFFS.

dude, you left the caps lock on.
haha ohh man, you guys are funny | 4:17 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Hurricane finally gets some fair competition, meaning they don't have to play schools in their region that are almost double their size. Its about time. Don't be surprised to see Hurricane up at Rice-Eccles.
Other 3A school | 9:02 a.m. Aug. 17, 2008
There were other schools demanding that Snow Canyon, Dixie, and Pine View be classified as 4A. Every 3A school (except Cedar)demanded it as those three had enrollments of 1200-1400 while the rest of the 3A schools were between 600-800. Geography concerns kept the three Dixie schools in 3A for all this time despite their readiness to move to 4A.

This past year proved that point as those schools fared very well in state 4A championships.
Snow Canyon = Whiners | 9:09 a.m. Aug. 17, 2008
Snow Canyon fans whine at everything, despite their successes. Their biggest whine is that they don't think it is fair to be left out of playoffs because they are a good team.

Join the club with the other regions! Talk to Spanish Fork, Springville, Pleasant Grove, and Payson about your troubles. Those schools were stuck playing Timpview, Provo, Orem, and Mt. View for years in a 4A region and stayed home annually because of the dominance of the Big 4--and many times they had good teams which could have competed against the SLC 4A schools as well as the Davis/Weber/Ogden 4A schools.

The state championships will always omit some team that may be better than some that make it because they REGION PLAY determines entrance to the championships. Some regions are better than others.

Rest assured--lower seeds don't win state championships.
Whats Fair | 9:59 a.m. Aug. 18, 2008
If there is a desire to have the Region 9 schools to stay 3A and have equality do the right thing and realign the boundries putting all the school at the same level. There is no need to have a small Desert Hills on one end and Snow Canyon needing more rooms built. IF Snow Canyon wants everyone to compete in 3A in region 9 come down to the size requirement and stop blocking the realignment of school sizes. Then all the talk stops and is played out on the court or field where it belongs.
Talking Straight | 6:56 p.m. Aug. 18, 2008
I don't think it really matters what "A" Hurricane or any of the other schools in region 9 are. Hurricane is going to beat them all. School size doesn't matter this year. The talent and skill is there, the wins will just follow suit.
re anonymous | 12:10 a.m. Aug. 20, 2008
good call. that is one of the funniest posts i have seen. they think that they need to do that to LET EVERYONE KNOW THEY ARE MAD AND TO LISTEN TO WHAT THEYRE SAYING. This is the only place that S.C. fans will have to talk so lets let them.
no weakness | 10:27 a.m. Aug. 23, 2008
Did you see Desert Hills last night?
I think you need reconsider calling them weak.
DHHS | 1:49 p.m. Aug. 24, 2008
I did see DHHS beat arguably the worst team in the state of utah. They will be no match for Hurricane. Quit getting your hopes up DHHS fan!
No weakness | 11:04 p.m. Aug. 30, 2008
Did you see DHHS recover after losing their quarterbackin the first quarter? It wasn't pretty but they sure came back strong.
Re: Anonymous | 4:09 p.m. Sept. 11, 2008
Snow Canyonville...I like that. Hurricane, you are amazing. Don't believe the headlines too much. You cna't compete with the big three in the south. That's why you pushed so hard to have the region split. Now just because you wooped up on Scipio...Millard, and Moapa, you think you have the the right to jaw jack? If Timo is all that Snow Canyon has, they will still stomp you. You have no chance against Pineview, and Dixie AND Cedar will most likely school you as well. Canyon View and Desert Hills could fall to your might, but with a 2nd place in 3A Region 9 in your future maybe you should split your school so you can ctry your "skills" against Parowan and Beaver. You haven't been tested yet this year. PERIOD! Your ranking is a joke. PERIOD! And THIS year when Snow Canyon runs the score up on your weak Defense, don't be a bunch of cry babies. Just shake hands and go home. You poor sport junk won't fly down here on our home field. As for Whiners, you don't hear SC complaning about 19 seniors graduating. The Coach is SOLID and so is the team. See'ya for Homecoming!
Suppose | 10:59 p.m. Sept. 26, 2008
I suppose it doesn't mean anything that Hurricane whipped Park City?
A HHS football Player | 9:16 a.m. Nov. 10, 2008
We wnt 9-1 this season onl,y lost to Pineview in 20t for that in fact we killed snowcanyon yet Timo is a good athelete we still one we beat cedar and everybody else right now were in the semi finals against juan Diego and i expect we win and go to state. Since the PV and SC switch to 4A we still beat Snowcanyon and we had a terrific game against PV but pineviews a good team and we lost in 2OT i expect HHS to take state this year :)
