oh boy oh boy!!!
First round of what? | 12:38 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
> Utah's first-round game will be against
> the Clippers at Staples Center on Nov. 3.
First round of what? Did you mean "first road game" perhaps? Playoffs don't start until April, and I can't imagine the Clippers being in them.

October is too far away!

We are one guy away from being true contenders. Get a big who can play!!
Is the fix already on? | 2:26 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
Did anyone else but me notice that while the Jazz play the Lakers and Spurs only three times this year, two of the three games against each team are on the road?
Another Player? | 2:30 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
The Jazz have the players they just don't have a coach who knows how to use AK in the offense. The pick and roll is dead in the NBA. Move on Sloan. It is 2008 not 1988. AK and Williams are awesome in the open court. If we ran more and used ALL our weapons it might be............
DRJAZZ | 2:52 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
Another killer road schedule in April. Hope the boys have a few games in hand before that stretch. Maybe they will mature and have the Killer Instinct against inferior talent.
Hoping for the best.
Hoping for the best.
Re: Is the fix already on? | 3:08 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
Release the paranoia and think logically. Don't you think the NBA has better things to do than create ways to fix the Utah Jazz's regular-season schedule?
Dick of the NW | 3:22 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
To "another player," Oh? Even the "run at all costs Phoenix, uses the P/R. Let me see, doesn't Phoenix have a new coach? The Jazz run when it is to their advantage and use thier other weapons when it is not. If you want street ball watch "and one" on TV. Go USA in the Olympics. Coach K has really molded the players into a team. Go for the GOLD!
Pick and Roll Dead? | 3:48 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
Bread and butter baby! the basics are time tested and will always work. Just look at the 2004 olympics when greece used the pick and roll against the americans and destroyed us.
DasRipper | 4:02 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
13 of the last 20 on the road...yikes
basketball genius | 5:34 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
no Dwill cp3 national tv games! WTF Man the NBA needs to get a clue!
8:30 start times | 8:01 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
I wish the NBA would wake up and realize that we are not in the Pacific Time Zone. 8:30 is way to late to start a basketball game here, and we have 6 of them this year.
Wen game 2 of a double header is in the central time zone, the nba seems to be able to bump the games an hour earlier....
Oh, and more people back east would actually be able to see the games and not have tp stay up until 1:00 AM.

Complain, complain..etc. | 12:43 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
The 8:30pm games are being broadcast! You complain when they aren't broadcast and when they do and it's not the time you want.. you complain!
I'm sure the Laker & Spur/Jazz (3) game matchup is part of the efforts to FIX the outcome. The NBA is constantly trying to figure out how to keep the Utah Jazz from any chance of winning the NBA championship (through scheduling, referees, etc.) (in fact I'm sure there has been high level meetings about it)
I bet Kobe, D-Will & Boozer are arguing about it in Beijing in between games...
Seriously, get a life!

I don't know why | 7:50 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
you are worried about the NBA trying to figure out how to keep the Jazz from winning the NBA Championship. They have been trying for how many years now? The Jazz do not have the team to win the NBA. Even Chicago could not win with out a good supporting cast for their star. What supporting cast do the Jazz have? Bunch of people making more money than their worth and never producing. Larry is pouring his money down a "Dry Hole."
Killer Instinct | 8:10 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
from the VERY FIRST GAME is the only way the Jazz are going to last through April. As DasRipper says above, "13 of the last 20 on the road...yikes." The Jazz absolutely must CRUSH bottom-dwelling opponents from the get-go; there is no other way. I don't care if they get accused of running up a score by 50 points, "coasting" against (supposedly) weaker opponents is NEVER acceptable, and I've seen them do it just a few too many times, then get burned in the final minutes.
Washington Fan | 8:24 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
A lot of Jazz fans live in the Pacific Time Zone so stop your complaining and be happy we get to see the game.
Go JAZZ!!!!!!!!!!!
Go JAZZ!!!!!!!!!!!
tommy k | 8:57 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
Dwill is good, but CP3 is playing on another level. wake up and dont ne so bias man. Utah a small market and we don't need national TV?
Yuck | 9:13 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
It's amazing how many times when the Jazz play the Knicks in NY it's on a Sunday - does the league plan this? Why always on a Sunday!!!!!!!!!
Another Player? | 9:24 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
To Dick of the NW: How come when AK is away from Sloan's offense he produces big numbers. Reason: All Sloan wants to do is run the 4 1 pick and roll. Doesn't involve anyone but Boozer and Williams in the offense. That's not coaching. Use your weapons and win championships. Play two man ball and mediocre defense and go home EVERY YEAR.

Another rough December on the road. Only six home games in December, and there aren't many back to back home stands. I hope the Jazz can show some back-bone and take control of those road games so we don't have to endure another miserable Dec.

I think with D-will, A.K. and Booz all playing in the Olympics, they will have tired legs at the end of the season when the schedule gets brutal. Just looking at the schedule, barring injury, they will finish with about the same number of wins again this year. It may or may not get them home court advantage just like last year unless they win the Midwest which is a given without a huge jump by Portland. Jazz will be out in the first round to Houston as they pay us back. Then watch out when Memo, and Booz opt out. Jazz need to make a move in order to make a jump up in the standings. I don't see Jerry making significant changes with roles, court time etc. And we still have the same issues with interior defense!!! We haven't done enough to improve our team in order to get past LA, SA, HOUSTON? and the Hornets. KO it's time to make your money!!! A more ready to contribute draft pick/trade could have helped!!

to anwser your question Yuck. Because the NBA plays on Sundays or haven`t you noticed.
Theagreement | 10:25 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
tommy k- Have you been watching team USA??? I admit CP3 is an AMAZING player, but D-Will has been the best so far in the backcourt for the Americans. He is breaking the zone better than anyone, and his assist-to-turnover ratio is amazing thus far. Those two guys are a lot closer than most people give Deron credit for, although CP3 still has an edge, Deron has more of a killer instinct. you can see it in his eyes. There are only a few players in the league that have it. he lives for the clutch. Anyone who disagrees carries their own 'biases'.
Zeke | 10:31 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
Jazz need to learn how to win on the road and they will be fine.
Re:Yuck | 10:31 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
Why does it matter? It's NY. I went two years ago when the Jazz didn't get back on defence and it was on a Monday...
Not bad... | 10:57 a.m. Aug. 7, 2008
1. DWill versus Paul deserves one national showing.
2. We are lucky we only play S.A., N.O. and Lakers 3 times. Means we have a weaker schedule. Memphis and G.S. 4X or Lakers and S.A. 4X? No contest.
3. Never complain about the time. Live in the EST, then complain. TNT at 1 a.m. is rough.
4. 3 5-game roadies are tough, but that means we should have more mini-breaks during the year.

re: basketball genius "no Dwill CP3 national TV games--The NBA needs to get a clue"!
They got the clue--they are tired of their self-made "best PG in the world" (CP3) getting destroyed in front of a national audience--again, and again, and again, and again.....by DWill! Why would they want to show their poster boy PG getting repeatedly punked? They don't--it's not good for marketing.
Last year they built up the rivalry but we all know what happened head to head--this year they prefer to keep those games on the low-down so fewer people see them.
Its no accident. CP3 simply is not strong enough to defend DWill and DWill exposes him for the poor defender he really is. CP3 repeatedly gets in foul trouble early while guarding Deron every time they play.
The NBA is all about promoting "certain" players whether they are the best or not.
CP3 already gets endless superstar calls, gets away with excessive travelling violations, and gets bogus assists added to his totals. Google it.
Deron?? He repreatedly goes to the hoop hard and gets pounded/knocked to the floor and no-call.
Cp3 is very good but so is Deron--never know it from the hype though.

Nice observation Theagreement made. D-Will has been the stabilizing factor Team USA needs. CP3 is quick and crafty and does a nice job. However D-Will has a killer instinct is in control and comfortable under pressure.
FACT MAN | 12:23 p.m. Aug. 7, 2008
I didn't even look at the schedule but immediatley I saw that we play the clips back to back to start the season. I hate back to backs, because you are going to win or lose both. Like last year when The TrailGirls caught us in a skid and beat us 3 out of 4. in a 3 week skid. The schedule is badD

"...the Jazz just don't have a coach who knows how to use AK into the offense."
How can you and so many other people be so ignorant? AK does not have any offense! They tried that this year and it failed MISERABELY! His defense creates his offense. Very few players anywhere in the world have that talent. THAT is what makes him so special. His defensive abilities can make the Jazz championship contenders as teams feed off of defensive intensity and energy. If anything the Jazz are hurting themselves by getting him more touches. Why run plays for someone who has NEVER shown offensive consistency? You utilize your team members strengths in basketball, business, family, etc. to make yourself and those around you better...plain and simple! AK needs to leave his ego in Russia and be that defensive player who can still get his points, but be the heart and sould of this franchise.
