BYU can play through injuries without excuses.
Re; Not the Utes | 8:19 a.m. Aug. 6, 2008
We'll see how that prediction holds up when you drop the Washington game and finish the year at 8-4
Not a kicker | 8:35 a.m. Aug. 6, 2008
As a Ute, I have to say that I hope Sorenson the kicker is not as good in college as he was in high school. I saw him kick in several games and read about him in several articles. He was as good as any kicker in the country at any level. I sincerely mean this, because I hate Bingham and I hate BYU.

Well, you know what they say about football camp...it's a precursor to the season. Injury, unhappy coaches, etc. etc. etc. We'll there's always ballroom dancing!! And as you know, I LOVE dancing!!
BYU 1-2 to start season | 9:35 a.m. Aug. 6, 2008
BYU will start the season with back to back losses to Washington and UCLA. Injuries will be problem with the Cougars all year long. I do predict however that BYU will be in a position to tie or win the conference come November. Utah will be the front running all year long in 2008.

How far is Justin Sorensen kicking it though? can we get some reports on yardage? Has he done any kicks for kick offs?
BYU 3-0 to start season | 10:34 a.m. Aug. 6, 2008
Wait, let me try!
BYU will start their season 3-0.
Oooh, that's fun!

...but way to go on the respect BYU is getting for their matchup against Northern Iowa! I hear they will be favored in that one.
GO ZOOBS!

Real Deal | 10:44 a.m. Aug. 6, 2008
As a Ute fan, Justin Sorenson scares me. I watched him play at Bingham and he is "The Real Deal". My only hope is that the BYU fans will BOO him like they have previous kickers. Then he can choose another school after his mission.
Kicker | 11:18 a.m. Aug. 6, 2008
Justin Sorensen is wicked good. I'm a ute fan but was real disappointed that he chose to go to BYU. I saw him kick in a high school game last year and he drilled a 60 yard field goal....with a few feet to spare. Not one of his kickoffs even landed in the end zone...they were all through the end zone by far. He was such a weapon, being a threat to kick a field goal from the 40 yard line and in.
As a Ute, I'm glad to hear he is off. Something tells me, though, that it is just the first practice jitters and he'll improve to his old high school form.
Here's to a good season for both teams.

"...but way to go on the respect BYU is getting for their matchup against Northern Iowa! I hear they will be favored in that one."
I hear Utah is favored to beat Weber State too.
FYI:
Northern Iowa finished 12-1 last year in Division I-AA.
Weber State finished 5-6 last year, also in Division I-AA.
Also, UNLV is #10 in ESPN's "Bottom 10" rankings. Should we give any "respect" to any teams that got beat by them last year? Let alone SHUT OUT?
Since Utah plays UNLV after the Michigan game, maybe they should be the ones worrying about starting 1-2.
Oooh, and watch out for Utah State, they're not a whole lot worse than UNLV.
Some Utah fans at least make intelligent jabs. Yours was not.

Two Excellent Kickers | 11:58 a.m. Aug. 6, 2008
BYU will have TWO excellent kickers this season.
Payne is back and healthy after struggling with a groin injury that limited his range in 2007 (Have you ever tried jogging, let alone kicking a ball 50+ yards, with a pulled groin muscle?)
Sorenson is the real deal.
You won't see BYU punting from just inside the 40-yard, this year, like they did several times last season.

Prediction | 12:03 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
BYU is ranked #5 and Utah is ranked #10 for the final game of the season and both are undefeated. BYU wins they play in the national championship game. Utah wins the go to another BCS bowl and demolish a subpar 6-6 West Virginia team that wins the Big East.
You heard it here first. (I majored in Tarrot Card reading at BYU.)

Concast-hater | 12:09 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
I predict BYU haters will predict BYU to lose all week before each game no matter which team BYU plays, just like last year. Please give it a rest on the easy ones like UNLV.
I'm losing faith in Fui. Injuries or not he will only play when the game is already decided.

"Utah 12-0"
"Michigan 11-1"
Not only are both of these ridiculous, but it's a catch-22. If Michigan is good enough to go 11-1 this year (which they're not), then there's no way Utah beats them in Ann Arbor. In any case, plan on leaving Michigan with a moral victory.
Before you start talking about 12-0, you should think about scoring touchdowns against bottom-dwellers UNLV, yeah?

I AM WRITING IN CAPS ON PURPOSE.
ONLY ONE NON-BCS TEAM CAN GO TO A BCS BOWL.
IF HAWAII, BYU, UTAH, NAVY AND BSU ARE ALL RANKED IN THE TOP TEN IN THE COUNTRY, THEN ONLY THE HIGHEST RANKED IN THE BCS POLL WILL BO TO A BCS BOWL.
CAN WE ALL GRASP THIS FOR ONCE AND FOR ALL?

Michigan is a wash up this year. "Mike Hart, Chad Henne, Jake Long, Mario Manningham and Adrian Arrington are all gone. So is Lloyd Carr. And Rich Rodriguez cost the Wolverines a lot more than they expected." who is left there to play? easy win.

You'd think winning at UNLV would be an "easy win" too. Good thing the Utes get to play them at home this year. Phew.
And anyone who is "left there to play" will be faster and stronger than most of the Utah players on the other side of the ball. There's a reason they're playing at Michigan and not at a MWC school.
Honestly, if anyone's going to win at Michigan, this is the year to do it, but you're in for some surprises if you think it's going to be easy.

Whoever thinks that the Michigan game will be easy for Utah obviously doesn't know college football. Michigan wents nuts in their bowl game last year (and beat defending champ Florida). This year, with Rodriguez, they're going to be better coached than they have been in a few decades. On paper, Utah will be lucky to keep it close.
However, Utah's ability against BCS teams never ceases to amaze me. Who knows...they might sneak out of the Big House with a win (incidentally, you could nearly fit three RE stadiums in the Big House...now that's football!). I wish Utah the best of luck in that game.

Snow 6-6: What are you smoking? From playing for the national jr col title to middle of the pack?????
Anonymous | 4:57 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
I just am wodering why all of these ridiculous utah fans post all of these comments on a BYU article, instead of reading and focusing on their own team. You all know that BYU is better, and so you have to try and talk all this smack to think you are making a difference. Try focusing on your own team and worrying about the team you are supposed to cheer for, or do you just cheer against BYU. In that case you are not a real fan at all, but just a sissy!!!!
DARNREED | 4:57 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
I GET EXCITED TO HEAR ALL THE HYPE - WITH SOME PRETTY GOOD THINGS BACKING UP THE HYPE PROVING OUT. BEST OF LUCK TO BOTH SCHOOLS. THE GAME IN NOVEMBER COULD BE AS GOOD AS ANY IN THE RECENT PAST. BOTH DOING WELL COULD DO MUCH TO HELP THE IMAGE OF THE MWC CONFERENCE. THIS IS MUCH NEEDED. GOOD LUCK UTES AT MICHIGAN AND BYU AGAINST NORTHERN IOWA.
Foregin Cougar | 8:25 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
Let the Utes think they have a team. Most of them aren't real Ute fans just anti-BYU fans which is why they come and post all their crap on these articles.
Ewe fans | 10:01 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
Your posts are low camp humor. You don't need to tell us you are ewe fans, your infantile language identifies you immediately.
BYU Fan | 10:29 p.m. Aug. 6, 2008
As a loyal BYU fan I would love to see BYU go 12-0 bust the stupid BCS and make BYU fans proud this year. 12-0 could be accomplished but it will depend on a healthy Max Hall and a good defense. Both BYU and Utah could be good this year if both their quarter backs stay healthy. Football season hasn't started yet and already Utah fans are predicting the demise of BYU which hasn't even happened yet so lets wait until after the first month before we start predicting records of both teams.
Oh and by the way to Utah man am I sir Weber is the correct spelling for Weber State. Trust me I do know that since I do have a degree from there but I have no loyalty to their football program.

(ANONYMOUS, I AM WRITING IN ALL CAPS)
He was not saying that both teams were both going to go to a BCS bowl. You are an idiot! it was a prediction, that if BYU was ranked 5th and Utah was ranked 10th, that if BYU won they would go to the national championship (which I don't think would happen, but...) if Utah won then they would just go to a BCS bowl game and not the national championship. They both can't win that game. So it was a prediction depending on who won. Don't act like you are the smart one typing in all caps and stuff. You are actually the biggest idiot here!!

Instead of talking smack about Utah beating Michigan, which I hope they do for the sake of the MWC, we should be worrying about beating UCLA and UW. I remember a couple of should wins the last couple of years that we lost. As much as I love to see Utah lose, I hope both teams go undefeated until November 22, when the true champ will remain undefeated.
Go Cougs, 12-0
