There's something wrong with this picture. The Bush cartell are blaiming congress that oil companies are not being allowed to drill and produce oil, yet these same oil companies are not drilling and producing oil from approved leases and oil sites. The oil companies have millions of acres under lease but continue to hold out to get public sympathy to add more millions of acres of wilderness before they start production. Then there has yet to be any disclosure where any new oil will be sold. I suspect through speculators to blackmail the american people with higher cost oil. There is a game being played at the expense of the american people for oil companies to further their profits with little regard to american consumers. If the real facts were known, we would find that gasoline use is not the driving force of gas prices. The consumer market is inundated with plastic products that also use a large majority of oil. Gasoline is still a cash by-product for other major uses of oil. The plastics market cost are passed on to consumers at the gas pump. Plastics market is not complaining about a shortage or prices and continues to grow.

Waiting a few years for the oil to come on line is better than never!! Pelosi and her crew are pushing this 7-10 year gap, when oil companies are saying the oil could be online within 2 years. They focus on gas and conveniently leave out the point that there are numerous other products that even the evironuts use that are oil based.

To "Bob G 7:43 a.m" you should look into the leases that the oil companies have. On many of them thy are allowed to drill, but not produce. So, while they have drilled and found the oil they cannot pull any out and sell it.

To Bob G
They have the leases, but "not" the right to drill!

This is the same guy that told us raising the mileage standards would ruin the American automobile industry. Yellow cake is WMD. Only in America can a national guard drop out become commander and chief of our armed forces.

What does that say about you Anonymous? If Bush can accomplish the top job in our country even after dropping out of the guard, then you should be able to lead us down the right path. What i say is "Only in America can a unpatriotic half white man who has no experience or clue what he is doing be a nominee for that same job!" Prediction: IF Osama uggh Obama gets voted in we will wish Bush was back or at least a republican.

Democrats have made the same tired 7 to 10 year argument for at least the last 7 to 10 years. Time keeps marching on and they are doing nothing. If these democrats had some other idea to help us with our energy crunch then I would listen, but they have no answers. The republicans are just as dumb, they don't have any good ideas either, nor do they have a plan for getting the "drill now" legislation through. Congress is the the most useless assembly of human beings this side of the U.N. We as Americans must once again fend for ourselves with useless government standing in the way.

Obama is a great American patriot. Look at conservative patriots who think we are idiots. They want us to believe they support our troops but they haven't stepped up to pay a dime for the wars our military are fighting. It's charging this war that gives the Chinese government control over Bush. Bush can't boycott the games. It's debt that as devalued the American dollar so it takes twice as many dollars to buy oil.
Obama, unlike Bush, wasn't born to extreme wealth. Obama has never been arrested. Obama goes out every day proving that America is a nation where a "half white man;" your words: can become president.
We today, have the choice of replacing W. who ruined everything he's touched with an American that has made the most of every opportunity being an American has given him.

Obama is so superior to Bush that to even think of comparing them shows me that you are have not read up on Obama. Bush got us into this mess; he was the commander in chief. To blame Congress is so false!!!
Remember: the white house had a meeting, a secret meeting, of people involved in the oil and gas industry. They refuse to tell us who was there and what was discussed. REFUSE!!!
When you see corruption and lies, you have to vote for the other party, hoping that they will straighten it out some how. The gop is not going to straighten out anything, unless it is more roads to their big homes from the oil profits.
Get real. Go democrats.

The Dem talking points contend that oil companies have zillions of acres where they could drill but haven't, that oil companies should drill in those areas before they acquire other leases. Pelosi and her discredited Dem cronies in the current Democrat Congress support drilling so long as they don't drill where there is any oil. The American people are getting tired of that same old song and dance. I think the Dems have over-played their hand this time by recessing without even permitting a vote on crucial energy issues. Hopefully, the American people are angry enough to hold them accountable, maybe by kicking some of them out of their cushy jobs where they line their pockets with ill-gotten gains from pork-barrel projects and use other devious stategies to defraud and misrepresent the people American people. And, of course, according to the previous poster, President Bush is responsible for the recalcitrant Democrat Congress adjourning leaving so many crucial problems crying out for solutions--and also for the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
