What a stupid question. The answer is and has been proven to be a felony hazard. Anyone caught or reported to be using a cell phone while driving should be charaged with a minimum of a felony. They are feloniously diverting their attention from driving and being in control of their vehicle. Then if a death occurs from anyone being on a cell phone should be arrested and charged with a homicide and willful intent to harm. But our legislators are being too reluctent to pass such a law and every year lives and property are destroyed by this negligent driving. Perhaps its because they are also guilty of negligent driving and don't want to put themselves in any position of breaking a law. Killing and maiming is okay I guess, as long as you haven't had a beer. Drug use, cell phone, running a red light, and inattention are not punishable crimes against my right to safe driveing. Only drinking beer is a punishable driving offense. How stupid Utahn's are amazes me, to even pose the question.

The simple fact is that you can't text and keep your eyes on the road at the same time. Even if you can work the keyboard without looking, you still have to read the return message (and probably proofread your own text before sending).

Perhaps cops should dispense with tickets, and when they stop someone seen using a cell phone while driving (certainly if they are text messaging), they should take the phone and smash it on the ground (the confiscate guns that are used illegally all the time; why not phones).
