I wouldn't pay two cents to see Miley Cyrus.

Welcome to Utah Miley. I'm sure you will do a great job at the Stadium of Fire. And don't worry as you know since you've been here before not all people from Utah are rude like this "sarah jane" in the first comment. I for one welcome you here! Actually from what I've seen sarah jane your a minority cause everytime she's here people have paid mega bucks to see her.

Any artist that writes AND performs their own material is high on my list. I'm not a huge fan of M.Cyrus, but you gotta give her credit for her accomplishments. It will be interesting to see what happens to her career as she transitions into adulthood.

I would not pay one cent

Um, don't you mean "former" country music star Billy Ray Cyrus?
Alex | 8:48 a.m. July 1, 2008
Here's what I love: we have to put up curtains in Provo's Gold's Gym because the yoga room contains "provocative" exercise moves. However, America's 'tween queen sweetheart is involved in an inappropriate photoshoot, but we still shell out ridiculous amounts of money for our kids to see her. Can someone tell me what's wrong with this picture, because it really doesn't make sense to me.

I would pay. Miley Cyrus is beautiful.

No decent parent would allow their innocent children to watch the exploitive tripe that Miley Cyrus performs.
To Alex | 10:41 a.m. July 1, 2008
Yes, I'll tell you: People around these parts are self-righteous and hypocritical.

Simple enough.
Shocked x 2 | 10:47 a.m. July 1, 2008
I agree with the previous post, no decent parent would allow their innocent children to see Miley Cyrus. I saw her perform on American Idol, and she had on a sleeveless shirt! Totally unappropriate! What is next, pants that don't cover down to her ankles? What is this world coming to?
Bob | 11:05 a.m. July 1, 2008
To call her an "artist," is a bit of a stretch. She and her no talent dad are to music, what Wonderbread is to fine cusine.
To Shocked | 12:09 p.m. July 1, 2008
HAve you actually been to one of her concerts?? She's not an "exploitive performer". And I for one would allow my kids to see her perform..good grief if you won't allow your kids to see her in concert you better never take them to a swimming pool..people wear swimming suits there that show a whole lot more then a bare back!!!

Re: To Shocked - I don't think Shocked may have been referring to Cyrus' "exploitive tripe" in the manner of inappropriate attire, but rather in the fact that she's 15 years old and is a cash-churning machine. At least that was my interpretation of it.

Utah County IQ is in danger of disappearing. $1000s for a seat at a Miley Cyrus concert?
To Alex @ 12:44pm | 1:16 p.m. July 1, 2008
Well maybe but after reading the part of "her innocent children" the only reason I could think of was cause of attire. Yes, Miley does make alot of money for 15 - but the cost for this particular perfomance is less then one would pay to see a JAZZ game.So it's not a ton of $$$$. The girl has alot of talent so why not use it. Every other performer does; whether it's acting or singing. There are other perfomers out there that charge alot more. So why is everyone upset? Is it cause she's only 15 yrs and has more money in her account then most? Well she's earned it.

Don't we have more important news than Miley Cyrus, American Idol, and the "entertainment" world? I can't believe this is getting so much attention! I really couldn't care less!!!
Alex | 1:38 p.m. July 1, 2008
Re: To Alex @ 12:44pm - To be honest, I either didn't read it, or the "innocent children" part didn't click in my head. In any case, I personally don't have a problem with her making the money she does. I do think it's stupid to pay $500 or $1000 for a ticket from a scalper, but that's another story. What I have a problem with is, like I originally said, that certain people find a gym's yoga room offensive, but apparently have no problem shelling out cash to see Cyrus, whose photo shoot (sanctioned by parents/handlers) I think is far more offensive than any yoga room.

"Don't we have more important news than Miley Cyrus, American Idol, and the "entertainment" world? I can't believe this is getting so much attention! I really couldn't care less!!!"

Then why are you reading and commenting on it? If you're not interested, then ignore it instead of trying to be condescending. Since when is entertainment news not "news"? If it's not the type of news you are interested in, then feel free to ignore it. Not every news story has to carry the weight of the world in it. People enjoy light hearted news.
RE: Alex | 1:59 p.m. July 1, 2008
Why does everyone assume that it is the same people who had the problem with the Yoga room that are buying tickets to Miley Cyrus? I love how the actions of a few citizens become the "hypocrisy" of an entire state!
Alex | 2:27 p.m. July 1, 2008
RE: Alex - You're right, I shouldn't assume. In that regard, I'd like it if people wouldn't assume I'm a Republican.

You guys are all really funny!

What's Miley supposed to do say that she's not looking forward to performing here. I guess only NBA players have that right.

Miley, as I understand, is quite tame as compared to Ms Spears.

I feel sorry for my friends who have daughters not yet in school. Here in a few years, pop divas are going to make Britney look like Doris Day.
Mother of two girls | 3:41 p.m. July 1, 2008
I took my daughters to the Hannah Montana concert in Salt Lake a few months back and we had a great time. She is a very good performer, and she is a pleasure to watch. I don't like some of her decisions lately, on the surface, but perhaps she can be allowed a mistake or two. I don't live in her world, and so I hesitate to judge.
Fireworks | 4:06 p.m. July 1, 2008
I saw on the news today that she excited to preform in UT, but she is afraid of fireworks, Then why is she preforming? they also said that she will have to get used to it , It is only 4 days away.
To Alex at 1:38pm | 7:50 p.m. July 1, 2008
Well I don't get my tickets from scalpers. And most artists are angry that that happens. But it's not the fault of the performer. So in reality if someone does by a ticket from a scalper then they do it the scaplers price - not the performer's price. Anyway and about the picture incident: I think it's been blown totally out of perportion. Like I said earlier go to a swimming pool and there are people wearing even less. And I will say again her performances are very good and decent and reasonably priced unless you are so desperate that you go thru a scalper.

I don't understand all of the rude comments against this young girl. I hope she has a wonderful time in Utah. Quit being so judgmental, everyone. Yes, I'm LDS and I don't hold her to my standards. I don't have that right. I think she's still a lovely young lady.
