starting at utah as a freshman this year will prob be an easy task to accomplish consdering the lack of talent you have overall. Best of luck to this kid and he will "truely" get baptized by fire when the Y lights him up with 50 points in his backyard! Also, how does it feel to know your only good coach in school history jumped ship after such a quick run, while your hated rivals brilliant general down south will have no interest in leaving after having a better campaign than urban..??!!?!?!? lol and yes, once we go to the orange bowl, and actually play a decent team, Broncos resume will leave urbans in the dust!! BYU is back! deal with it!
Re: he thinks?? | 1:35 a.m. June 29, 2008
An article about a young man choosing to attend the State University brings this response from what has to be one of Utah's brightest. If I were a supporter of Brigham Young University I would be embarassed by this type of "fan". I will never understand people like this who are continually saying things in a futile effort to convince everyone else that they are superior?

Ok, nothing like counting you chickens before they hatch... Sounds like some BYU fans are pretty far along in the pride cycle.
As for Mr Anderson, welcome to the UofU, you will find some silly fans (on both sides of the rivalry actually) but, with hard work and a level head you can do great things at Utah. Best wishes to you in your new future.

Please leave the hatred out and discuss the issues.

Regarding I think he's right, You're an idiot. You're not going to the Orange Bowl. You'll be in Vegas again playing in that lousy bowl that no one cares about. Quit embarrassing the Y with your stupid comments. (Are you the type of guy that goes up to Bronco and asks him if you can walk his dog or wash his car?) Pathetic!
re-i think he's right | 6:08 a.m. June 29, 2008
It is nice to know that a ZOOB is generally interested in the Utes to take time out of his busy schedule at 1:00 am, to make a comment that absurd on a Utah Utes football artacial. That comment just proves that are some ignorant byu fans. My favorit part of the hole article is the title: Utah adds ANOTHER Mr. Football honoree. Good stuf right there. That would be awesome If by chance Boo makes the starting rotation, just think how ashamed you will feel when Boo contributes to the spanking of your Cougars.
By the way I think somone put more than carrot chunks in your lime jello, possibly alcohol.
One more thing UTAH is back! deal with it!

dude you cogar fanz are so annoying!! Seriously i wish that i never had to listen to you on all these papers and call in shows and whatnote. You are so arrogant to not realize how lucky your really are to have had collie and harlin. My genie wishs would be 1) bomb southern utah 2) deport bronchini and 3) ripe the hearts out of byu fanz before turkey day!! it gonna be a long year for byu
Re:i think he's right | 7:15 a.m. June 29, 2008
The article had nothing to do with BYU, I am a BYU graduate that happens to know Boo Anderson. He will be a great, great player for the U. Comments like yours tells me your either in Jr high or a 45 year old jock sniffer. Either way I hope people who read your comments don't believe every BYU fan is that classless.

1st - Congrats to this awesome kid! He's worked hard, become a success thus far, and is going to the school he's dreamed of for so long. Congrats again!
2nd - This is a sports article! Of course fans are going to rile up the other fans. It's no disrespect to this kid! If this would have been a BYU recruit the U fans would have been saying worse things and on top of that some how it would have been the LDS churches fault for something.
3rd - My neighbor plays for the U and we give each other a hard time ALL THE TIME. I have season Tickets to Y games and told him if he doesn't have anything better to do on Saturdays this season he can come to some games with me. We just had a good laugh.
So in that spirit....
Unfortunatly, this kid is needed this year because of the U's weaknesses on D. He will not only get a rude awakening from the Y but every team that the Yewts lose to this season. Sorry you have to wear red, but it does cover up blood well.
Go Cougs!

Phil Steele, the leader in preseason publications who picked BSU 2 years ago and Hawaii last year, seems to think that Utah will do a little better than BYU, despite what Dick Harmon says. Congrats Boo on your decision and fulfillment of your dream, and hope you have success like your predecessors.
As a Ute fan, i thought Boo Hoo's post was funny

He signed a what? | 9:36 a.m. June 29, 2008
Let's use sports lingo here. The phrase "he signed a financial aid agreement" should not be in the same article about a football signee. Use that for your articles updating the Ute Engineering School prospects.
Congrats to the Utes though. I am a Coug but love to see the Utes do well. What would this rivalry be if the Utes were not a quality program. It would quickly become the same as the Utah/USU or BYU/USU games. And no USU fans, we don't want to play hoops against you in Logan - I'm talking about football.

Love to read these articles about good kids who work hard and make good. Also fun to read these silly comments from the zoobies. Make me feel lucky that the brainwashing stopped short of my house. Am looking forward to the upcoming sports year... Not even Harmon's cheerleading... Monson's bashing... or Bronco's canned speeches can ruin it.
hawk | 9:59 a.m. June 29, 2008
I don't care about byu fan's respect. The fact that they think our defense is going to be bad tells me you don't know jack about football. Typical byu thinking. The fall is going to be sweet
Re: Boo Hoo | 10:05 a.m. June 29, 2008
Sorry dude, but your 2nd comment is way off. Do you even read these DesNews boards? It's pretty much the BYU Cougar's newspaper so you probably get 2:1 BYU articles to Utah articles and reader comments. Plus the D-News lets cougar fans get away with much more without censoring them. I know there are Utah fans who can attest to that on here. Anyway, keep drinking your blue Kool-Aid and believing BYU fans aren't pompus all you want.
Go Utes this fall. I can't wait to see you play on satellite here in California! Get past Michigan and it could be a crazy awesome year!
(Ute fans are pretty good at keeping things in perspective) :)

So the war has begun. I am happy this kid is going to the U. Good for him. Hopefully he will take advantage of the educational opportunity afforded him and get a degree.
As for BYU and Utah. BYU will win. It is that simple. There are polls that rank Utah higher than BYU but for the last 35 years I have picked the winner 100% of the time and this year... once again BYU will win this rivalry game. They have the offense and Utah doesn't. Utah has been lucky these past 2 years that the cougars came in nervous and didn't bring their "A" game. The Utes always show up with their "A+" game against the cougars but BYU can't seem to get up for it... and yet they have still won.
I look forward to this game this year... my only hope is that Kyle will remain the Utah head coach after this years loss. He will be great if Utah will stick with him.
BYU will go undefeated this year BTW.

Re: Boo Hoo pt.2 | 11:02 a.m. June 29, 2008
Our weakness is replacing 4 people in our front 7. Guess what BYU has to do the same thing and they lost a lot in their secondary too. Both teams are gonna be struggling on defense.
Unfortunately Boo wont be starting and probably wont get much time out there on the field. I hope he competes and tries to beat some people out, but there are already 2 starters penciled in and 2 guys vying for the 3rd spot. My guess is he is red-shirted.

Re: Boo Hoo | 2:12 p.m. June 29, 2008
I can certainly attest to what you said about the D-News censoring Ute fans and letting byU fans say almost anything.
On more than one occasion my comments have been censored but when I reposted the EXACT SAME comments with BYU substituted for Utah, they were miraculously 'clean' enought to be posted.
PATHETIC!
As for Boo Anderson, it is nice to see that Utah is still attracting the best in-state recruits.
Go Utes!!

Censorship | 3:06 p.m. June 29, 2008
I second the censorship that Deseret news dose on anything that is negative towards BYU... It sickens me to see the obvious BIOS that this news agency allows. It is a discredit to the state of UTAH...
As for the new recruit... WELCOME SIR... the water is just right!

BYU....fans are weak! | 3:18 p.m. June 29, 2008
Wow, the humilty of BYU fans never ceases to amaze me. BYU is back? LOL....that means you must have been pretty down!!! Utah hasn't sunk the ship like the Y did, we still own the nations longest bowl win streak and are poised to win the MTN. West this season which is attainable.
Those of you that think Utah's D is weak...well, we were among the nations leaders in several categories last season and have filled the gaps were we needed to and expect nothing but the same for this season. Be ready Cougs...Zoobs....Kitty Kats....the Utes are gonna get ya!!!!!

now i know im right... | 4:28 p.m. June 29, 2008
especially after reading all of these hilarious and pathetic comments by you ignorant ute fans! btw i would never ask to walk broncos dog or wash his car, with his new pay increase he has the luxury of buying his own car wash! Kwhit turned byu down cause we offered less $ then your AD...now look where bronco stands compared to whitingham! That factor alone shows how superior bronco is to your version of GC. Oh and btw im not in jr. high i graduate in april and look forward to firing all the worthless ute grads that i will be managing! stick to gymnastics, cause thats what you do best!

Congrats for him | 5:10 p.m. June 29, 2008
I am a BYU fan, but let's be real, not all Cougar fans make idiot comments as have been evidenced.
Good for Mr. Anderson! College football will help him go to get a degree and he will make the Utah program stronger.
Good luck to him in all games. Keep the rivalry as the best in the MWC.

A great athlete | 5:22 p.m. June 29, 2008
Boo is not only a great athlete but a great human being as well. I saw him run over to pick up one opposing player who he had tackled. He put his arm around him. To me, that is what makes a great athlete. He also worked very hard getting his team psyced up before every game with his little chant. He'll be a great addition to the U. I heard his father played with the LA Rams under Kyle Whittingham's father. Is that true?
Congrats for him? | 6:01 p.m. June 29, 2008
Dude, read the two previous posts before yours. Go Utes!
BYU drought | 6:22 p.m. June 29, 2008
When was the last time BYU played in a respectable bowl game....not in the last 20 years.
re: Cougar Fan | 6:28 p.m. June 29, 2008
What's with the Mr. T lingo, fool? Or are you a Rome wannabe? How about a little originality, that would be sick. Utah made a couple of awful defensive plays to lose to BYU, but to say they have no defense just speaks to your ignorance. Congrats to the U for another quality recruit and I hope the U - Y rivalry stays competetive for years to come.
Genius Coug Fan | 6:40 p.m. June 29, 2008
I love how TDS fans are so convinced of their superiority that they don't realize that they are 2 plays away from being 0-6. Two lucky plays (or as they would say blessed) I might add. Seriously if you lined up those plays again 10 times TDS might get that good of a result once and yet they will be the first ones to tell you how good they are.
As for Boo I'm glad to hear that he has a goal of playing his first year. I love how the Utah players talk about hard work and preparation while the TDS talks about being blessed. I'll take players like Boo anyday.
BTW Bronco while recruiting missionaries and holding firesides in order to contact recruits in a bend-the-rules fashion probably didn't want him anyway.

Cougar fans are hilarious. They come onto Ute message boards and talk mad smack. Good job Cougar fans. Shouldn't you be at family home evening or ward prayer. I mean come on Sunday is your day of rest. So go read your scriptures, go to your firesides, say your prayers and go comment on The Failure from BYU basketball. Trent plaisted. The next araujo. UTES by 50. And I'll be laughing while Whit calls for the onsides kick when were pounding you by 50 in the third.

Pure Talent | 8:13 p.m. June 29, 2008
I have never seen a kid move like Boo. The way he sheds blocks, hits, tackles and has enough speed to run down ball carriers is amazing. He is truly the next big time player this state is going to see. To all you people who have never seen him play (Most people who posted comments) watch some game film before you talk. He was out for two games due to a spraind ankle and hamstring pull and still had speed to coverd the states top wide recievers for two games after his injurys . This killed his tackling percentage. No one has given him credit for that? Yet he is still Mr. Football. He just graduated high school and has the size, speed, quickness and athletic abilty to get drafted now!!! Good Luck Boo
To: Genius Coug Fan | 8:31 p.m. June 29, 2008
2 plays make us 0-6? I don't get it. I guess you have to go to the U to understand that math.
And plays are plays, they played, they won. No woulda coulda shouldas. If you want that philosophy, we were only one play away from winning three in a row over you and just a couple of more for being on a 25 game winning streak. Games are played and are won and lost regardless of "luck". Luck happens to those who win because they are in position to win.
Congrats Boo. Here is a cougar fan hoping we see two undefeated teams face each other in November!

We from the planet Zibanmani have been studying your planet for a zhogg now. We have noticed that some of you believe your own personal worth is somehow tied to your chosen sports team. We here on Zibanmani learned many zhogg ago that our personal worth and success in life was is only dependant on yourself, not any other person or team. We shall probably visit your planet soon!

Some stupid fan posts very disrespctful comments about a student committing to another school and gets called for it. Then someone from the same school asks people to stop the "hate" is reference to the defense being brought up in the athlets behalf. It is amazing how quickly some people try to turn the debate around and complain why are you attaching me?
I pull for BYU but certainly recognize that hating some BYU fans is easily understandable and for some fans, I would even join them in their detest.
Maybe we should remember this is only about sports.
Oh, by the way, the churchs encouragement to defend the faith via the internet does not apply to newspaper articles about student athletics.

I saw him single handedly (with some help from Cort) shut down State-runner up, layton high. Layton had the best running game in the state as evidenced by their crushing of Skyline 48-0. layton was held to -9 rushing yards. Layton's only bright spot was their amazing Wide receiver, Putnam ,who gained nearly 200 yds. Boo and Jefferson Cort shut layton's running game down and were crowned best in state.

Cougirl fans kill me with the whole "still open" thing. Why don't you keep going: Still, nobody is open, Utah just scored again, the Cougirls have still not scored - on their home field, Utah beats rivals and still fires their head coach.
This year will be the beginning of the reminder that the Cougirls are playing with their second choice as head coach.

To the first post on th page. Bronco will never have a resume equal to Urbans. Bronco coaches in the MWC, Urban the SEC (most coveted and dominant in football). Bronco caoches a Non BCS school that will never have the opportunity to play for a Nnational Championship because the system will never allow it. Urban coaches in the SEC that will consistanly place a team in the national Championship game. We could go on all day bottom line Bronco will never match Urbans record or resume.
What's great | 9:58 a.m. June 30, 2008
Is that a kid whose Dad is a former BYU Cougar, Rob Anderson, tight end with BYU sometime in the late 70's or early 80's, has a dream to play at Utah.
Taxes | 10:07 a.m. June 30, 2008
It is so stupid that they use our tax money to fund sports. Taxes should go to education, not entertainment. I want my taxes to go to something useful, not Ute sports. At least BYU fully funds their sports. This is what is wrong with America. You use taxes to fund a game... so smart...
the ty | 10:55 a.m. June 30, 2008
As a cougar fan, I enjoy watching Ute fans implode-jumping all over the comments of one (as here) or a few Cougar fans, instead of focussing on the point of an article. Much like Kaneshiro, most ute fans often miss the mark.
Re: Taxes | 11:45 a.m. June 30, 2008
Correct me if I'm wrong, but BYU (including athletics) is funded by tithe offerings from Latter Day Saint members. Some of the LDS members might argue that the money that assists BYU athletics is a waste of their hard earned and honest tithe offerings.
I see it both ways...
I see it both ways...
Re; taxes | 11:52 a.m. June 30, 2008
Are you for real? I can only assume you are coming from a BYU education. Our taxes don't pay for football. It is profitable. BYU doesn't pay for their program either. They make money on it. In fact both schools make so much money on football and basketball that all of the other sports programs are paid for by thier income and they still have money left. The entire concept of college sports is a moneymaker. wake up.
Ute | 4:05 p.m. June 30, 2008
When will all you Ute and Byu fans realize that the D news loves to have any article in the paper about either school just to see everyone go nuts on the comments pages. There is always going to be someone that loves to trash talk the other team just to return later and read how everyone reacts.
