I am so glad to see el deportivo Saprissa coming to Utah, although Saprissa is the team I hate the most in Costa Rica, Since I am Alajuelense but I have to recognize Saprissa is for now the best team in Costa Rica with three Championships on a row. Saprissa will be a good match against real Salt Lake, and since Saprissa also was in the interclubs world Champioship a few years ago his players are well experience. I will go and enjoy this game and good luck for both teams is going to be a great game and happy 4 of july and pioneers day.

Costa Rica's Saprissa? There you go, that's what we need to improve our gameplay. What about some European teams? I love RSL but if we want people in Utah to get excited about soccer we need to have world class teams playing in Utah every year. Real Madrid and Everton were great in the last two years. No offense but who is Costa Rica's Saprissa?

Saprissa is only a 27 time champion -- which rsl fans dont deserve. you think a euro team is the answer to improve your play?? get real REAL -- look in the mirror and start there. If Everton was such a great match for you -- why didnt anyone go!!!??? rsl is YEARS away from demanding or deserving anything -- pay your dues, shut up and enjoy what u have

So playing Saprissa is what RSL fans deserve. Great, a 27 time champion from Costa Rica will get everbody so excited to watch pro soccer. Did you went to the RSL vs REAL MADRID game? I was there, RES was full and that game was the second bigest sport event in Utah in the last 5 years. Don't tell me to shut up and enjoy what I have in Utah because I have been playing and watching European soccer since I was 6(Sporting of Lisbon) which is light years away from your Costa Rica league. Utah needs more big soccer events like the Real Madrid game to get more people excited. With all the respect, Saprissa will not produce an event like Real Madrid game.

American MEN get excited about this "UP & COMING" Sport because it's ok to cancel a "Match" a month or two before it is to be played! They have a Clock that counts "UP"? Playing for a "Tie" is totally acceptable! I have to tell you, I love coaching the kids in-door soccer, THAT IS FUN, it's a lot like hockey, and the shrunken soccer field is ok too, but full size soccer IS BORING!!! ALTHOUGH THERE ARE ABOUT 30 seconds of total excitement during a game other than when there is a "Goooaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllll!" And the Players go bazerk because something other than an outstretched yawn in the stands actually happened, or the hymlec was administered to timmy who just choked on a popcorn seed that got stuck in his throat. Oh how I wish soccer could be somewhat more exciting.
The Fact is I know the real reason it isn't. THE RULES! If you understand the rules of the game and how to apply them they make the game A LOT MORE ENJOYABLE! Example, women who love football: UNDERSTAND IT, those who don't, Don't know what is going on! Same applies, learn the game and you will like it.

You mean like the BYU-Utah game of the 2003 season that end it with score of 0-3. Yes, that was a lot of fun one guy kick a field goal and the rest of the time was just timeouts. BORING, BORING.

With all respect to Sporting of Lisbon
I know your intentions are good for the Real Salt lake but you have to remember that if real became one day champions of the MLS or a runner up, they have to face Concacaf and Caribean teams so playing agaisn't Saprissa is not a bad thermometer for real to start playing with Concacaf teams. Playing with european teams is not bad but real needs to learn to play with their area first before venture with Elite europeans teams. Saprissa is a really good team and before MLS teams even existed Saprissa was allready a Champion in the Concacaf area. So there.

Manudo I agree with you, I forgot the Concacaf detail. I hope the Saprissa vs RSL game will be a good test to see how good RSL is if in the near future they will have play in the Concacaf. Good luck to Saprissa in their season.

You are very knowledgeable in soccer. Seemed most who had commented had forgotten about the Concacaf. I have seen Costa Rican teams play and I have to admit they are very good. And I can only say that REAL Salt Lake will have to play their very best to beat Saprissa. I did see however in a earlier post that you don't like Saprissa but the Alajuelense. But I have to say Saprissa is good..maybe better then your team.
Manudo | 9:08 p.m. July 5, 2008
Thank you for your comment Manudo@9:12am, yes it is true Saprissa is the actual Costa Rica Champion,Saprissa's rival in Costa Rica is Liga Deportiva Alajuelense a team with great Class but like great teams Alajuelense is under a big Change of players and Coaching. So it will take some year to go back in track. Most of Alajuelense player are playing overseas now day.Well, I hope will be a great match agains't Real.

Come on...a Manudo defending Saprissa!!!....Let the Europeans enter the discussion and Mr. Sporting of Lisbon will learn how much are Europeans willing to pay for Costa Rican players...most of the them made by SAPRISSA!!!

Saprissa is basically the Cost Rican national team.
