5'11, 225 lb's sounds powerful but if he goes on a mission watch out! He might come back a quik footed center. If you have a build like this it is very hard to get the activity you need to stay fit on a mission.

He may be good, but he'll never be as good a Luke Staley.

Those cell phone sales records will never be broken.

What a surprise!!! Another BYU player from their farm team.

This is real good pickup for the Y because looking at the roster right now, there are no true fullbacks. Tonga won't be there this season and he really has no backups that can play the fullback position. Maybe Vakapuna will be a good fit there with his size. What happened to that other local polynesian kid that was playing fullback? Is he on a mission or something?

I thought the MTC was the BYU Farm System, not Mnt. View HS?
RE: Blue | 4:23 p.m. June 28, 2008
Mountain View HS the farm team for BYU? Maybe Mountain View HS in AZ but not Mountain View HS in Orem, UT. They had no answer for their competition in 5A. It wasn't until they moved to 4A that they had success again.

Way to go Mendenhall, the cougs are picking up some great players. Just keep goin', it's really buggin' the mosquitos up north.

He has nothing better to do with his life than type sarcastic remarks on a teams' blog he hates. Glad it's not my life.

Re; Blue - If BYU has a "farm team" it's Timpview H.S. in Provo. Former Coug lineman Louis Wong is the coach there. I think 8 or 9 Timpview players on the current roster including the Reynolds boys (Coach Reynolds sons) and stand-out freshman Harvey Unga. Timpview seems to land 3-4 scholarship players at BYU each year to keep things going.

You are right it was bugging the utes so bad that they added a better player, another Mr. Football honoree out of Alta High. Robby Andersen..

Go Utes.

Timpview HS has so many D1 scholarship players lining up this season, that they could seriously give either SUU or Weber State a challenge on the field. Utah needs such a "feeder school." The future of high school football in other states is evolving as in Utah. Better programs get better, as D1 quality players migrate to those schools. In both Southern and Northern California there are a handful of schools that produce the majority of D1 players. The same thing is happening in Utah

Timpview HS playing Weber - give me a break. That is just dumb!

Last years Timpview team really could have competed against Weber. The had the coaching, size, and talent to do so.

This years team, maybe not so much because they don't have a proven QB..
RE: Realist | 10:18 p.m. June 29, 2008
Timpview and and last years Bingham team both could give Weber State a run for their money. Really!!
Anonymous | 9:55 a.m. June 30, 2008
Weber or SUU 80 Timpview 0. What a goofy thought. Those HS teams would get killed by Snow College and Dixie as well probably 55 or 60 to nothing.

I dont care for Snow, Dixie, SUU or Weber State, however, these comments about bingham/alta beating these schools are obviously made by fans NOT players that know anything about the game or the difference in level, it don't matter, JC, D2 or D1AA, whole different level folks from little ole highschool. WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL!!!!

I've heard he will be better than Robert Delpino!!!

Timpview's team last year had 12 starters that have/had college scholarships. Half of those have MAJOR scholarships to D1 programs (above the likes of Weber, Dixie, SUU, ect).. So yes, they could definitely have competed w/ them.

wow, whats going on with these comments about Timpview can compete with Weber, snow, suu stuff? your all asumming that the players from timpview that signed with these teams would be starters and the best players on the college teams. That is certainly not the case. A lot of these players will not be starters and not good enough to start for these teams, just good enough to get a scholorship. I played football for Dixie state a long time ago and can tell you that Dixie would slatter any high school team, even timpview. BTW I wasn't the starter nor 2nd string RB for Dixie.
