Double standards | 9:46 a.m. Aug. 25, 2008
I totally agree, the trash talking is way out of control. It's amazing to me how people (supposedly adults) will hide behind anonymity and put down kids, (yes these teenage players are kids)to make themselves feel better. I don't understand it. All of these players are out there trying to do their best. This is supposed to be some of the best times of their lives, but it's really hard to keep giving it your all when your being put down by some nameless faceless coward. One thing that really bothers me, is that it seems some people/schools are off limits, and if a negative comment does slip past the moderators it gets removed fast. But I've seen one poor young man get hammered, by name, repeatedly and the D News keeps posting the comments. I see a huge double standard. Be fair, if you're going to allow negative comments, they've got to be across the board, not just one's directed at 17 year old kids. Also, I really think you need to look into your blogging policy because people can write what they want because it's anonymous with no accountability. It's horrible!!!

Apparently those most interested in the article's title, are likely those that most need to hear the advice. Immaturity is quite apparent in some trash-talking and won't take one far in life. You'll understand in about 10 years.

The blog referred to as "trash talking", but posters are encouraged to build them up and not tear them down.

Will the DN stop at nothing to generate internet hits?
