Removal of dynamite planned for today
PARK CITY A cache of old dynamite uncovered at a hotel construction site this week will be neutralized and removed this morning.
A private contractor will use chemicals to neutralize the six cases of dynamite that were unearthed by a track hoe near Deer Valley on Monday, according to a statement from Park City officials.
Once the dynamite has been neutralized, the explosives will be taken to a safe zone where they will be burned. Until then, the construction site will be kept closed and a 1,000-foot safety area will remain in place.
It is unknown how long it will take to neutralize the dynamite.
