Stop watering lawns, director urges

Due to last weekend's wet weather and more on the way for this weekend, the Utah Division of Water Resources is asking homeowners and businesses to stop watering their lawns and gardens for the year.

"Each fall we receive calls from people complaining that local businesses are still watering even though it's cold or raining," division director Dennis Strong said in a statement Wednesday. "Turning off the water now will save our precious water resources in our reservoirs and aquifers for next season." He also said it will save energy and money.
