FARMINGTON — For the first time since a deadly officer-involved shooting, Davis County's SWAT team was deployed to deal with another high-risk individual.

"Every call is different," Davis County Sheriff's Lt. Brad Wilcox said Monday. "This one was handled in a way that was different than the other, obviously. It involved circumstances that were different."

The incident began Saturday when a woman went to her estranged husband's home in West Point to pick up her two children for a weekend visitation. According to an incident report, the woman says Cody Larsen, 26, rammed her with a highchair with their baby in it. As she was holding the child, she claims Larsen shoved her to the floor.

"Before I could get up, he got a shotgun out of the closet and cocked it," she told police in the report. "He then pointed it at my face and screamed, 'If you don't have my kids back by Sunday morning I'm gonna kill you. I'm gonna kill your brother. I'm gonna kill your dad. I'm gonna rape your mother."'

The couple's son told police: "My dad tried to kill my mom," the report said.

When police responded to the home, no one would answer the door. An officer left a message, which the deputy wrote was returned Sunday with a voice mail from the man threatening to "murder you, I will murder your (expletive) family."

"Due to the nature of the violence, they called SWAT and SWAT responded and basically gave him a chance to come out of the house," Wilcox said. "He did. He came out peacefully."

As he was being arrested, a police report said Larsen beat his head in the patrol car, cutting his head. Larsen was booked into the Davis County Jail and charged in 2nd District Court on Monday with third-degree felony aggravated assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child; unlawful detention, a class A misdemeanor; and class B misdemeanor threats.

The SWAT team was last called out in the deadly standoff involving of Brian Wood, a Farmington firefighter who was shot by an officer. Farmington police said Wood fired a shot. Wood's family claims he was Tasered and then shot in the head.

The Utah Attorney General's Office said it is conducting a review of the shooting. Meanwhile, Wilcox said SWAT has undergone a debriefing since the Wood incident.

"They have operations probably every other week," he said of SWAT deployments. "They get plenty of calls."
