The Leonardo is expanding its hours to meet demand for Gunther von Hagens' "Body Worlds 3 and the Story of the Heart," now on display at the museum. And it's also giving artists two after-hour opportunities to sketch the human body.

Sunday through Wednesday, the exhibit opens at 10 a.m. and the last ticket is issued at 5 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday, the opening is the same, but the last ticket will be issued at 7 p.m.

Tickets are sold in half-hour time slots, so if you buy a ticket for 3 p.m., you have until 3:30 to enter the exhibit. It takes the average person about 90 minutes to go through the exhibit, but the museum is allowing two hours between the last tickets issued and closing.

The sketch nights, which allow artists and art students in after the exhibit is closed for the day, will be Oct. 8 and Nov. 5. Male and female draped models striking poses similar to the plastinates will be featured Oct. 8, while nude models in similar poses will be on hand Nov. 5 and is open to artists 18 and older only. It's a rare opportunity for artists to get their visual cues from both an internal and external anatomical perspective. During the art sessions, the gallery is closed to the public and ticket purchase is required.

Artists and art students are welcome to sketch the specimens during normal exhibit hours as space allows. All artists and art students must fill out a special Agreement on Drawing and/or Sketching Inside the Exhibition form prior to doing so.

For information about sketch nights only, contact Kersten Swinyard at 801-937-4221.
