West Jordan police looking for man who threatened couple

WEST JORDAN — Police here were looking this afternoon for a man who threatened to kill two pedestrians.

The incident began about 11:30 a.m. when a woman walked past a house near 4400 West and 9000 South. The woman's presence apparently caused a dog in the yard to bark, said West Jordan Police Sgt. Greg Butler.

A man exited from inside the house, confronted the woman, and asked her why she was walking in front of the home, Butler said.

The woman went home and told family members. An older brother then walked back to the house with the woman to talk to the man, Butler said. After the man answered the door, he got a knife and a gun and threatened to kill them if they didn't leave, he said.

The two left and called police. A SWAT team surrounded the house and evacuated surrounding homes as a precuation, Butler said.

The man did not live at the house, but rather was friends with one of the owners and had been staying there, Butler said. The suspect was the only person at home at the time of the incident, Butler said.

Police were never able to contact the man to confirm he was still inside. After about an hour, police received permission from one of the homeowners to go in after him, Butler said. But the SWAT members found no one and believe the man left the house before theyh even arrived.

Investigators were looking Tuesday for Michael Daniel Lippincott, 24. He is considered armed and dangerous and will be arrested for investigation of two counts of aggravated assault, Butler said. His last known resident was in Taylorsville, he said,
