Taser used to subdue man who tried to flee on bicycle
A police officer deployed his Taser on a man Saturday after the man tried to flee and resist arrest.
The officer stopped the 25-year-old man near 900 E. Yale Ave. Saturday afternoon, according to a police report. The man tried to escape on his bike, but the officer chased him down and forced him from the bike.
The man then tried to resist arrest, police said. The officer warned him to stop, but he refused so the officer deployed his Taser.
Police said it was later discovered that the man had an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence. He also had a marijuana pipe in his backpack.
Police booked the man into Salt Lake County Jail on the warrant and for investigation of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
