U-turn and the 'bird' lead to jail for 2 men
An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a speeding violation late Sunday but instead got involved in a high-speed chase, according to a 4th District Court affidavit of probable cause. The driver, a 30-year-old Draper man, made a U-turn, nearly hitting the officer, and then sped away. Just as he was making his getaway, the driver stared right at him, flipped him an obscene gesture and smiled, according to the officer.
The Draper man sped away, but he and his passenger, a 23-year-old Payson man, were arrested a short time later.
The Draper man was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of resisting arrest, fleeing and evading police, giving false personal information to an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a stolen vehicle, attempted aggravated assault on a peace officer and possession of stolen property.
The Payson man was booked into jail for investigation of fleeing and evading an officer, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of stolen property.
