AMERICAN FORK — The American Fork City Council recently awarded two contracts for its new pressurized irrigation system that will affect many businesses within the community.

Pressurized irrigation will not be provided to all businesses because of their limited irrigation needs, but all American Fork businesses and residents will see the new culinary rate structure enacted regardless of if they are connected to the system or not. The packages that were recently awarded will cover the area from 1100 East to 900 West and from the railroad tracks by Pacific Drive to I-15. Work on the area could begin as early as Oct. 10.

Residents within specific areas of the city were notified in August that they could connect to the new pressurized irrigation system. As of now, 1,017 property owners have been notified that they can connect. Already 175 residents have completed the connection work and inspections necessary to connect to the system.

An open house will be held on Tuesday at Greenwood Elementary, 50 S. 200 East, from 7 to 9 p.m. The public is invited to attend the open house at anytime during this period to ask questions and give comments.
