WEST JORDAN — In a quiet ceremony, West Jordan Elementary School officials dedicated a small memorial to a student who did not return to classes this year.

Linzie Williamson, 10, was found dead inside a South Salt Lake home last May. Police say her mother's live-in boyfriend killed Williamson, her mother and his own daughter before turning the gun on himself.

Monday, a memorial to Williamson — a tree that her classmates helped plant and a plaque they helped buy — was dedicated on the school grounds.

"She was a vital part of our school," said Principal David Vicchrilli. "As kids grow and come through the school, they'll be able to remember that she was a part of their lives and she won't be forgotten."
