Boyz II Men keeps audience on its feet
OREM Boyz II Men packed the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theater to the rim Thursday as it brought its R&B sound for a one-night stand.
Accompanied by a recorded tape and video backdrop, the multimedia presentation kept the audience on its feet most of the night as the former Philly trio sang top hits from its collection as well as a set of Motown favorites.
Touted as the most successful R&B group of all time based on record sales, the four-time Grammy Award-winning song stylists showed off their tight harmonies and high energy.
The trio blended their voices with the taped band and background singers, which gave the concert a full sound. The audience didn't seem to mind that part of the concert was live and part of it wasn't. In fact, it was almost like being in a lengthy music video.
Among the songs the trio sang for the appreciative audience were hit singles "I'll Make Love to You," "4 Seasons of Loneliness" and "End of the Road."
Classic Motown songs from the "Motown: Hitsville USA" tribute album included "The Tracks of My Tears," "Just My Imagination" and "Mercy, Mercy Me," complete with classic Motown moves.
Judges were writer-producer Steve Anderson, Jared Osmond, son of Verl Osmond, and comedian Jason Hewlett.
