Miley Cyrus excited to perform in Utah
"'Ready, Set, Don't Go' is a blast for me and my dad to get to perform together," Miley Cyrus said. "We always have a great time.
"I think just my favorite thing about being able to work with my dad it's been a blast but it really keeps our family together," Cyrus said. "Because if he was in L.A. or I was in L.A., or we were mixed up, it just wouldn't be the same. So, I think it's awesome that we can keep our family together."
Speaking to reporters during a telephone conference call, the 15-year-old Cyrus chatted about coming to Utah in the past and how excited she is to return this Friday for America's Freedom Festival's Stadium of Fire concert.
"I have been to Utah a couple of times," Cyrus said. "I went on my tour, and my friends are shooting some movies up there. And so I've been up there a couple of times. I'm totally excited. Anytime I can do a show and I have places I have been before, they are always wonderful memories."
Saying that she couldn't think of a better way to spend the Fourth of July, Cyrus said performing at Stadium of Fire is like having her own personal fireworks show. And while she's really excited to perform in front of so many excited fans, she may have to overcome a fear or two.
The show will give fans a chance to hear songs from her next album, "Breakout," due to be released in a few weeks.
"This will be my first show with all of my new songs and just my Miley stuff," she said. "Hopefully, they just enjoy how it's super personal so I hope they like that because my last record was more of just me being me."
When asked about the transition from a child star to a career performer, Cyrus mostly reflected on her evolution as an artist.
"The way I perform is what I like my music to reflect," she said. "I think when I'm out there and they see me rocking out with head banging and running around and playing my guitar, I think that totally reflects who I am, and I guess it doesn't show as much of my growing up as it shows more of me getting better and growing as an artist more than just growing up."
Cyrus, who was on set for the call, took about 30 minutes to get on the phone with reporters. When she finally did get on the line, she apologized for the delay.
