MLS roundup: Ralston lifts New England past Toronto
Ralston banged in a rebound off Adam Cristman's header in the 12th minute. He followed up Kheli Dube's drive off the Toronto crossbar in the 59th minute.
The Eastern Conference-leading Revolution improved to 9-4-3. Toronto fell to 6-4-3.
With the victory, the Revolution's Steve Nicol will coach the MLS All-Stars against West Ham United FC of the English Premier League on July 24.
CREW 2, RAPIDS 1: At Columbus, Ohio, Emmanuel Ekpo's first MLS goal gave Columbus a victory over Colorado. Ekpo's low, 24-yard shot deflected off the fingertips of Rapids goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul and into the back of the net in the 70th minute. Crew forward Guillermo Barros Schelotto scored on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute, and Nick LaBrocca's second tally of the year tied it seven minutes later.
EARTHQUAKES 0, FIRE 0: At Bridgeview, Ill., San Jose goalkeeper Joe Cannon saved three late attempts, and the Earthquakes and Chicago played to a scoreless draw. Justin Mapp, Chris Rolfe and Bakary Soumare had late attempts for the Fire that were stopped by Cannon.
The two teams combined for 52 fouls and six yellow cards. Dave van Bergh scored his fourth goal for the Red Bulls while Chivas' Ante Razov scored the equalizer just before halftime.
